I listened to Rose's story intently. When she finished, I got up and told the pair of them politely. "I am going back to bed now before I get caught. Goodnight Celia. Goodnight Rose." When I entered the Ravenclaw dormitory, Loralai was waiting there for me. "Where have you been?" she demanded. "I am so telling Flitwick." I squinted to see her properly. "Not now, Loralai," I replied, heading towards my own bed. I collapsed on it and fell fast asleep. *** The next morning, I was awoken by someone shaking me. It was unsurprisingly Celia. I greeted her with a yawn. "Oh sorry. It's way before first bell. I just wanted to wake you up so that we can begin our investigation. I think we'll need someone on the inside who knows all about Hogwarts," Celia instructed. I blinked. "Uh. Yeah about that. Do you think we should continue? After Rose's warning?" I asked. "It seemed pretty sincere and well my mum told me all about her time at Hogwarts and the one thing I've learned is that you don't go looking for trouble," I continued slowly. Silence hung in mid-air for a couple of moments. Celia was the first to break it. "Well yeah? So what to we do? Wait until trouble finds us?" she argued. I relented. "Good point. Ok so whose our spy?" I gave in. Celia smiled in triumph. "I was actually asking you. You've been attending lessons, haven't you? So who do you think?" Celia replied. I thought back. Someone who is loyal and kind and would be a good friend. That rules out any Slytherin. Someone who knows different stuff than us and hears different gossip. That rules out a Ravenclaw or a Gryffindor. "Our spy has to be from Hufflepuff," I declared proudly. "Ok. Anyone specific in mind? We can't approach any Hufflepuff can we?" Celia prompted me. I continued to consider this matter very carefully. So, it has to be someone we can contact easily. Preferably a first year. I clicked my fingers. "I know who. Oh, I should've known earlier. Eleanor Black," was my exclamation. Celia stroked her chin. She admitted that that was the person she could think of as well. "A Black. Daughter of Sirius. He must've taught Eleanor lots of mischievous and sneaky stuff," Celia added to my claim. It was settled. During Transfiguration, while Ms McGonnell ranted on, I sideway glanced at Eleanor. She seemed bored to death. Celia, unfortunately, paid too much attention in taking notes so she did not notice this detail. When Ms McGonnell's back was turned, I hastily scrawled a messy note. It read: Eleanor Black, please meet me outside this classroom once class if finished. PS. Don't you think this is BORING with capital letters? I aimed and threw the piece of paper to the desk next to me. Fortunately, Eleanor was just next to Celia so all Celia had to do was pass the note on. Celia finally saw the note when it landed on stationery. Reluctantly, she passed it on to Eleanor. However, that was the moment Ms McGonnell decided to turn around. "Passing notes in class are we, Miss Lupin?" Celia gritted her teeth and shook her head. She was trembling from head to toe. Eleanor had already read the note and had signaled to me that she would do so. Eleanor stood up. "Excuse me Ms McGonnell but there was no note. You see we were trying to transfigure a piece of paper into a small bird but all of us failed. Celia here, likes challenges so I thought I'd give her one and now she's desperate that she can't do it." Ms McGonnell raised an eyebrow but the three of us nodded eagerly. Almost too eagerly. She strode to the board again and began demonstrating how to transfigure a piece of paper into a small bird. Eleanor winked at both of us. We returned the wink. 'I have learned a few tricks from my father, Sirius,' she mouthed towards us. I covered a snigger with a cough while Celia almost choked on her own saliva. When the class ended, Eleanor walked over to us. "Yes?" she inquired curiously. "Um you see..." Celia trailed off, indicating that I tell her. "Well, there's no easy way to say this so here goes. We want you to be our spy. See what's going on in this school. Especially Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy," I stammered nervously. She grinned. "Sounds like the perfect job for me. But I would like one thing in return. Celia, could you help me with my homework? Actually, with both of ours given that we can't focus on classwork now?" Eleanor replied. Celia looked aghast and rather taken-back. "Uh, sure I guess? But you guys have to do the test yourselves. The quills have anti-cheating spells on them," Celia said. "Yeah, we know. We'll revise on the last day, won't we?" I assured her. Eleanor did the same with a keen nod. "I'd better head off. I see Albus and Scorpius heading towards the girls bathroom?" Eleanor beamed before rushing off.
