So- saw this beauty and got inspired. ------------------------------------------------------------ White-Shadow used to be one of the most respected beings in the Empyrean. She was the handmaiden to the goddess of Life and Death herself, and carried out her every whim as the Goddess wished. She had ascended to the top because of her wits and talent alone, a truly honorable feat. Many of her fellow peers admired her- but none more so than Aether, White-Shadow's own sister. Aether aspired to become just as successful as White-Shadow- to an almost deadly degree. Aether would constantly put herself in danger so that she could prove her worth- going as far as to try and defeat one of the most powerful demons in history, κρανιοθραυστήρας. White-Shadow would go out of her way to keep Aether safe...but her stunts became more and more hazardous as time went on. One day, Aether came to her doorstep, with a request that left White-Shadow's dumbfounded. "I know how to solve all my problems!" White Shadow smiled in the way one would when listening to a small child babbling away. "That's nice, Aether." "I'm going to take the Elixir of the Goddess herself!" A loud crash sounded from the other side of the room. "You're going to what?!" Aether rolled her eyes. "Did I stutter?" White Shadow turned to look at her. "If you were ACTUALLY going to do this, how would you even gain access to the Elixir?" "That's where you come in!" Aether said excitedly. White-Shadow started to laugh. "I wouldn't do that- you know how much trouble I'd be in? You must think I've gone mad." Aether seemed to deflate like a balloon. But then she looked up, her eyes blazing with anger. "You just don't want me to be special, do you?! White Shadow has always been selfish. I should've known better." "Aether, be rational. I think this little hobby of your-" Aether interrupted her. "Hobby?! You genuinely- I don't need your help. I can do this myself." Aether stormed away. White-Shadow sighed, but she had the nagging suspicion Aether would stay true to her word- she had always been stubborn, although infuriatingly so. White-Shadow stood outside the Palace of the Goddess, looking for any sign of her sister. Once she saw Aether's familiar shape go into the palace, albeit wearing a hooded cloak that covered most of her body, she snuck inside, following Aether closely. Aether arrived at the safe which had protected the Elixir for generations, and started to fiddle with the lock. No guards had been appointed, as most had given up on trying to steal it. Aether finally unlocked it after a few seconds. White-Shadow was astonished...how could she have known the code...? Aether walked inside the safe, and so did White-Shadow. She had to stifle a gasp when she saw the Elixir...there wasn't much, and the entirety had been stored in a tiny glass vial. It was a hue of color she had never seen before...it was as if someone had captured a sunset in a bottle. Aether reached a tentative paw towards it...and White-Shadow pounced on her. "What do you think you're doing?" She demanded, but then nearly jumped off of her. While Aether had been struggling against her grip, her hood had fallen off, revealing her face...which had been marred on one side. "What did you do?" White-Shadow said, her concern evident in her voice. "I did what I had to." Aether said, and unconsciously reached a paw to her face, as if trying to feel the bleeding cuts. White-Shadow stumbled back, overwhelmed by the sudden information. "Oh, Aether...but I can't let you do this." She said solemnly. Aether sighed. "I wish it didn't have to end like this."
The two cats then leaped onto each other, starting off gentle, but their jabs became more and more vicious. They suddenly heard footsteps down the hall...the Goddess had heard the sounds of battle and was hoping to resolve the situation. White-Shadow blinked, realizing what was happening. She glanced at Aether and shoved her behind the pedestal, effectively hiding her. She whispered three words to Aether. "I love you.." She then turned around to face the Goddess's wrath. ------------------------------------------------------------ Okay so it may look like there's no shading but I swear to God there is, I just made it dark enough to pass as black
