Olive let out a breath of air as the curtains opened, signifying the start of the parade. She was district 1, so of course in the front. It wasn't that bad, until you considered that you were the one setting certain expectations for the tributes following. The first of the night. But to the capitol, merely a passing blur in the crowd. Just another one of the 95 or so tributes. This meant it would be extra important to grab the capitols attention. Olive wore a simple looking yet elegant outfit. They wore a loose jacket with small gold chains and green and gold wings on the collar. The loose and puffy sleeves, which were in a 'v' shape at the end, allowed for a transition to white fingerless gloves. Two gold chains wrapped around each back leg. Two more dangled from faer tail, holding two small green and gold wings. In her eyes, they wore contacts which made her pupils appear as crescent moons, the irises white and the rest shrouded in an inky blackness. To top it all off, their left eye was covered by two large green and gold wings, with gold chains wrapped around the rest of the head to keep it all together, like an eye patch made for a queen. This, Olive's dresser had said, was for "mysterious effect". Olive's eyes widened at the sight of the crowd ahead. It was large, and illuminated only by glowsticks in the crowd. Holographic cats ran up to the chariot, clamoring for attention, only to be "run over" by it. Despite the chaos in the crowd and on the ground in front of the chariot, something caught Olive's eye. Many of the cats in the crowd were in a dark setting in order to draw more attention to the glowsticks, therefore hardly visible. But amongst the many cats, there were more colorful hologram like cats. They seemed to have a more authoritative figure about them, with a notebook in paw. The judges, of course, as Olive called them. /Don't be nervous. Don't be nervous./ Olive thought to themself, eyes wide. /Pull yourself together./ Olive looked down. There was a crystal cluster looking structure, although clearly made of plastic, just low enough to step onto. Obviously, it was there for a reason. Olive put one paw on it. It began to glow a bright white, positioned cleverly enough to illuminate Olive but not the other tributes of her district. Olive raised the other paw, still leaving one on the crystal. They put on a mysterious yet elegant expression. The crowd erupted into a loud cheer. Whether it was for her or her fellow tributes, Olive did not know. Olive radiated confidence. At least, to bystanders. She was really somewhat nervous inside. But it was more of an excited nervous. Like the one you'd get during your first prom, or graduation. She seemed to be saying "Here I am. Look at me. Like a moth, attracted to the spotlight, I live for your affection." Finally, the chariot reached the end, and the crowd faded out of view. The colorful glow and loud cheers of the crowd faded, leaving Olive once again in the dark, looking for that light again.
