Use it like a real lift. Warning : Loud noises ! Description part 2 : The old boiler was more solid than the new heat pump but it was leaking, was a real power guzzler and didn’t worked that well. The heat pump is much better and way more energy efficient but requires more maintenance work, even though the boiler was in such bad condition that it was nearly impossible to fix. Yeah, Medway Council has neglected this poor housing estate and this very expensive but very high quality and over engineered heat pump is broken for over 3 months ! This lift is maintained by Jackson’s aka a stupid generic company who loves modding Ecodisc with stupid Lester Controls ! They don’t maintain this lift properly as a resident told me that this lift overshoot the floors for over 6 months and Jackson’s knew that but don’t give a toss about that… This place needs to be treated a lot better than currently… And guess what ? The same resident told me that Medway Council will modernise the place again even though it was very well renovated in the early 2000s by true specialists and this renovation is slightly less than 20 years old, so it’s still really nice and modern for a council block of flats renovation ! Also, the voice speaker is hidden in the lift ceiling.
Credit to @Jon5432, @RussoElevators Inc and all. Title : Odd & grotty 2004 generic Harrington hydraulic lift… Brand : Harrington Lifts. Year : July 2004. Type : Roped hydraulic with 2 pistons. Logic : Harrington/Microsmart PLC. Voice : ILE Sercoms. Capacity : 630 Kg or 8 Persons. Motor : Kleemann hydraulic pump (Blain valve). Speed : 0.5 m/s. Floors : 6 (B, G, 1, 2, 3, 4). Doors : Fermator. Buttons : DMG B5 Inox vandal resistant (Replaced with Dewhurst). Indicator : Harrington/Generic. Phone : Unknown (Replaced with Safeline). Position of motor room : At basement floor. Starter type : Star-Delta/Star-Triangle. Location : 28 Rockbill Street, Chatham, UK. Notes : This is a rather custom but very generic looking hydraulic Harrington lift (Harrington always built very custom made lifts until very recently when they started to install generic bottom drive MRL lifts with Sodimas equipment in around 2021/2022, then Garbage Lift Services took them over as well as many generic lift companies and all of these companies merged together to create the « Harrington Elevators » company which installed the word sort of generic lifts : The awful semi kirk time quality lifts with flammable VF. Then Garbage Lift Services & ULCEP went bankrupt and Morin & Roy which is a really bad french semi generic company took them over as well as multiple other generic companies, renamed Harrington into SHHMRLA and they became a big alliance of different companies which include Wittur, Dewhurst, Lester Controls, Gruppomillepiani, Maspero Elevator, IMEM Ascensores, etc… They made very bad generic lifts featuring loads of apallingly bad proprietary restrictions, are way harder to maintain than TK Mk1 and Mk2 and worst of all, they’ve got planned obsolescence. The group got punished by the French justice because since 2015 planned obsolescence is forbidden in France and just after creating a US distributor called Berry & Spencer Elevators just before going bankrupt again and then IMEM Ascensores and Lester Controls took them over and became the 2 shareholders of the group. The group got renamed again to BSM aka Berry Spencer Morin and they now install bog standard rubbish generic lifts). This lift was installed in 2004 and is a hydraulic. But despite being a generic hydraulic it is actually quite heavy-duty and has indeed a proper chassis and 2 roped hydraulic rams which makes it nice and well supported. Even though it has a very violent start when going up & it does rattle quite a bit & isn’t leveled properly with the floor (There’s a gap). This lift is also very slow for the distance it goes, the hydraulics sounds nice though but it’s got an annoying loud fan - GRRRRRRRR !!!! It used to have vandal resistant DMG B5 Inox buttons but they got replaced with Dewhurst ones but it still has it’s original International Lift Equipment voice unit, Fermator VVVF door operator, MicroSmart PLC logic controller & Kleemann hydraulic pump. The lanterns and indicators are original too. But what’s super weird about this lift is the fact that it can only take 1 call at a time despite the fact that it serves 6 storeys and was built in 2004 ! This lift has quite a lot of annoying delays too. This lift is in a 6 storey small scale 1970s council estate which had originally no lift inside it. The place got renovated in 2004 but despite that, the building is really grotty and run down. And this building is located (surprise surprise) in Chatham aka a really chavy place ! And yes, this estate is very grim and rough and guess who owns this estate ? Noooooooooooooooooooooo, it is not the magnificent Medway Council, isn’t it ?! The one famous for enslaving wheelie bins, breaking fire regulations and this council only cares about Rochester aka where all the tourists go and where all of the exclusive & very posh clubs are. And outside of this area, everything is run down !!!! Brilliant council !!!! This place is grotty indeed, is full of graffitis, it stinks, the building’s heat pump keeps breaking down, the lift is regularly out of service despite the fact that all the equipment in the building is actually rather reliable (Big lack of maintenance), the glass on the entrance doors is broken and you can even find dog poos in the main hall ! Also, some graffiti look very suspicious… Anyway let’s enjoy this basic and grotty but quite custom generic Harrington hydraulic lift. BTW this block of flats was built between January 1970 and February 1973 and has basic very brutalist architecture. The building was pretty heavily renovated between May 2001 and July 2004. Street artists were hired to make the facades look nicer, the electrical equipment got upgraded, awell as the interior, the thermal insulation A lift got added and the old heating oil powered boiler got replaced with an awesome heavy-duty top of the range geothermal heat pump which is something you wouldn’t expect to see in a basic council estate back in 2004. Part 2 of the desc is in instructions.
