Chapter 3: Shed Some Light Against Ebony's wishes, the two stayed in her dorm for the rest of the day. Ivory was sticking and doodling in a scrapbook, and she was sharpening her blades. Ivory looked up at Ebony, who seemed to be in a discouraged state of mind. Ivory continued, determined to get past her barriers, saying, "Come on, Ebony! Let's have a conversation, at the very least. What if we each shared a little bit about ourselves?" Knowing that Ivory wouldn't accept no, Ebony sighed. "All right. What do you wanna know?" Ivory had a happy sparkle in her eyes. "Tell me about your scythe. You know, I've heard legends about it." "It's just a scythe," Ebony muttered, trying to brush the topic aside. Ivory smiled, unfazed. "But, I've heard it was made from the first comet that humans ever saw." It gives you some serious power!" Ebony chuckled at Ivory's enthusiasm. "Ivory, no. It's not that phenomenal," she said. "Even so, I do appreciate it “emotionally. When I first joined LOST, my mentor gave it to me. Our bond was unbreakable." Ivory's face became even more friendly. "That is special." Her voice was sad and sweet as she said, "Maybe a little personal, but what happened to them?" Ebony's pupils grew frenzied, and her breathing stiffened. "I guess Destiny chose to separate us in some way, and soon after that, I learned of their… " "Eb, are you okay?" Ivory apologized for bringing it up, but her voice was worried. Ebony said, "No, it's okay," as she jolted back to reality. "I'm going to bed," she sniffled, covering her face. "You know, you gotta get up early!" The air stayed thick the rest of the night, and Ivory did the same.
Sorry for the VERY long wait; for a good while, my priorities were school, family, and homework. (Fun fact: homework was invented and INTENDED to make kids suffer) Then, after having some alone time at last, I started writing this chapter. Sorry that it's so short, but I hope you enjoy it!
