she is half my soul, as the poets say…. (full screen + volume @ 50 recommended!) ⑉⑉⑉⑉⑉ 4 arrangements, 3 piano parts, 2 renditions, and over a year of labor and love later, i present to you: achilles come down, covered by yours truly! four score (quite literally, i arranged four different scores) and seven years (a year and a half) ago, a certain someone introduced me to song of achilles, which led to me being introduced to achilles come down, which led to an unforgettable roller coaster of stories and songs, tears and laughter, and most important of all—friendship. little did i know that this project would become one of the most defining things of my life, and that the person i’d make it for would become one of my favorite people in the whole wide world. i wanted to learn this piece for her birthday in 2023, but considering that i’d attempted this a week before her birthday and that i’ve never learned a full piece before, it did not go so hot. i also struggled to find an arrangement that did the piece and its intricacy justice—so, when i had the opportunity to do a school project on absolutely whatever i wanted in sophomore year, i leaped at the chance to make it this. the impact this project has had on me is…so much more then i will ever fathom. the personal growth that occurred in pushing myself to make this the best that it could be was insane. the sheer incredibleness of the best friends that i made—online and in real life—because of this is insane.
