USS Cleveland was a heavy cruiser of the United States Navy, named for the city of Cleveland, Ohio. She was the lead ship of the Cleveland class and served in the Pacific Ocean during World War II. Cleveland earned 14 battle stars for her service and was the only heavy cruiser to participate in every major offensive operation from the Gilberts to Okinawa. She was sunk by a kamikaze attack on 30 July 1945 during the Battle of Okinawa.
