Between now and my last project I've been discussing my world with my friends and people at my church. I've found that I need to iterate more about magic, and here is that explanation: If you had trouble reading the text in the image or simply didn't, I will type the gist of it. Feel free to skip over this The reason why specifically instruments are used to cast magic is that harmonius vibrations are the way dragon remnants communicate with magic. I compare this process to the magic burning; the spell being the flame, and the toxic fumes given off beign the smoke. It is important to not these fumes are different from the gases portrayed in this image, which I have named "haar" or haze. To avoid ST getting mad, I will not explain what this gas is used for. The reason for the use of instruments is the ability to play different notes, whether it be plucking different strings, hitting different keys, or striking drums assigned to different pitches. The different pattern of notes you play brings different results. This is how you direct and choose what magic you are casting. There is a pattern between what you play and its results, but it depends on many different contexts such as who is playing, your environment, the instrument, etc. Certain uses of magic have much less directed actions. Fulmination magic, basically explosive magic, often use rattles or the soniferous equivalent of buttons/levers to "burn" magic. To get a signifcant output from this, dragon blood is included somewhere in these types of tools. More information on dragon blood will come in a later production. Learning this is similar to trying to learn a language, but the only information you are given about the words you are saying is the reaction of people you speak to. I like how Monstergarden described learning his magic system, where "Understanding comes after Mastery". And that pretty much sums it up. If you have any questions, please ask away as it will help in bettering this magic system. I'm so-so about this design/drawing. I like a lot of the features, such as the Kutiyapi instrument, the Baybayin (dead filipino script), the clipped horns, etc. But I forgot to include aspects I talked about in my last project, like the casts hands are put in and smaller details that would be difficult to create with pencil. I'm having more problems with traditionally drawing, and it is for this reason why I may start digital art. With that transition, I may also be shifting this worldbuilding project to YouTube as it is far more fit for videos and gifs explaing details and aspects of this world. I'll post when/if I make that transition. I have a lot of ideas and I hope to see you there as we explore them. o7
