WASD to Move Space to Attack The screen is divided into quadrants. You can move between these quadrants freely. Any enemy attack only affects the quadrant the enemy is in. The same goes for your attacks. You cannot move while you are attacking or damaged, and neither can the enemy. Enemy attacks are not impeded by damage. Once you have disposed of all enemies, you can move onto the next round. You need to complete five rounds and defeat the Void Ruler in order to beat the game. Beating the game creates a Voidjarl that can be used to modify the difficulty of you or anyone else's playthrough. The more difficult the challenge was for a Voidkiller, the more sympathetic a resultant Voidjarl might be.
Story: You have been ritually sacrificed to the Void Ruler, a deity that resides in the underworld realm. Your mission is to kill the Void Ruler or die trying. Encyclopedia: The Void: A flat, nearly featureless plane beneath the surface of the earth. Dotted across it's magically charged depths are the occasional rock outcropping, Ravenkind village, and pool of slime. The Voidkiller: The name for a warrior, ritually sacrificed once a year to entertain the Void Ruler in gladiatorial combat. Voidjarls: Small lords, usually ex-Voidkillers, rewarded for successfully slaying the Void Ruler by the Void Ruler. Known to be sympathetic to new Voidkillers, and offer both boons for the weak and challenges for the brave. Ooze: A semi-sentient blob of primordial slime that lashes out to any who come near it. Does not move and stays on the ground. Flying Skull: A beastly skull given the semblance of life by the void. Does not move and stays on the ground. Ghoul: The corpse of a humanoid, controlled by an ooze. Moves and stays on the ground. Ravenkind Warrior: A race of sentient raven people that have found a way to live in the void. Moves and stays in the air. Gargoyle: Stone monsters brought to life by the void. Moves. Void King: The de-facto ruler of the void. They are functionally immortal, being reborn every year. They demand tribute from the surface land to entertain them. They can attack three times in rapid succession and home in on the Voidkiller. Notes from the Developer: This was a fun little game. I've always liked real-time hack-and-slashers, and the aesthetic of turn based games, so I thought, why not combine the two. Throw in a little gothic horror and a dash of Lovecraftian to the mix and...here you go. There are some sizing glitches in the game, of which I am fully aware. Just ignore them. They don't affect the gameplay in any way, other than giving you a good laugh.
