The Silent Princess flowers are known as a symbolism of love, and petals falling from the sky from the flower are meant to mean endless love between two people. In the secret ending in BOTW, this is seen as Link and Zelda walk side by side in a sea of beautiful Silent Princess flowers, as well as petals falling from the sky. But there’s more to these flowers than meets the eye! Most people presume the name of them is to represent Princess Zelda, and her struggle to show her true feelings for Link and mostly her father, and she wasn’t able to stand up to him - simply stay silent and follow orders. However this is not the case. While the name could certainly mean this, the true meaning of the name is reflecting the flower’s meaning (love) especially between the Princess of Hyrule and her Silent Knight. This creates the name Silent Princess. But there’s much more to the symbolism of these special flowers. For a long period of time, they went extinct. We aren’t really told why, but after TOTK came out - it’s quite obvious why. In TOTK, as you should know, Zelda gave up her life to become an immortal dragon, crying as she did so. These tears were scattered across Hyrule. Link has no clue of what has happened, however when you see the final memory - Silent Princess flowers have grown all around Link as Zelda flies away above him. The first moment they reunited after realising exactly what happened.
But why have flowers grown around him? There’s a theory about this. To activate the vision Link would experience about the past, he recalls the tear and it scatters across the ground. There is a theory the Silent Princess grew from these tears. That would make sense, considered they are always associated with Zelda. But what if that wasn’t because they are her favourite flower, like we were told? But what if they were her tears? When Link reconnected with a part of Zelda, the flower bloomed as a symbolism as a reunion of the pair after ages of Link searching for her. However, this brought his search to a depressing end as she flew away leaving him alone. The Silent Princess flowers were no longer extinct because the pair had reunited. The symbolism of love and the name which was decided by Hylia knows who, which honoured the Princess and her Knight, and the fact that the flowers were part of Zelda all along would make perfectly sense of how they disappeared then reappeared for such a long time.
