putting the backstory here since the description was too long LOL, plss look at the DTAE first !! my DTAE - https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/961681171/ ┄┄┄ ꒰ some notes : ⊹ contains themes of slight medical malpractice ! ⊹ the story takes place during the late 1800's ⊹ the places in his story are already part of an existing story! if I win, I plan to integrate him into the story :3 ┄┄┄ ↳ ACT I ... For all of his early life, Dante Winslow had been fascinated by the idea of genetic mutation and modification. He believed that with enough practice, genetic modification could be the key to things such as immunity to diseases, and perhaps even invincibility. Dante grew so invested in this idea, that as a young adult he pursued a medical degree, in hopes that it would bring him closer to his interest. Although, he would soon learn that the topic he had hoped to enlighten others about was heavily feared, and disdained throughout the medical community due to the risks it posed, and it's unholy nature, to modify and deform a living creature. As he graduated and went on to become a renowned doctor, Dante grew impatient with the fearfulness of his peers, and decided that the only way to go through with his experiments would be in secrecy. To do this, he would have to steal equipment from his workplace, and stow it away in his apartment, which he quickly did in the late hours after work. He decided that he would prepare the lab that night, and begin to brainstorm his ideas the next. Although, the next morning, Dante was quickly called into his superior's office. She explained how the night guard had seen Dante smuggle the missing equipment out of the office, and that he was to be fired immediately due to suspicious activity. Due to his embarrassment and shame, after being fired, Dante quickly moved from the city of Rookvale (his hometown) to the small mountain town of Ghost's ridge, in hopes of escaping the judging eyes of his peers... ↳ ACT lI ... Upon arriving at ghost's ridge, Dante eventually learned that the small town lacked a doctor, or anyone with any sort of medical background. He quickly requested permission from the mayor and sheriff to practice as a door-to-door doctor in town, and showed the two his degree, which was accepted without further questioning. Despite Dante's new chance at a fresh start, his mistakes had began to take a toll on his health, for he began to take much less care of himself, letting his fur grow long and ultimately disregarding his sense of kindness and manners. After many years of serving the small town as a doctor, and gaining a prominent reputation all the while, Dante grew very ill one day with a familiar and deadly disease that he had worked with as a practicing doctor back in Rookvale. After many weeks of anticipating recovery, Dante only grew worse, eventually losing sight in his right eye due to this illness, and losing a lot of strength in left leg as well (hence the bandage on the original ref). Dante grew more and more impatient and fearful for his life, until one night when he decided he could no longer bear his sickness. Dante believed the only way he could recover from his frailness was with the one thing he swore to never consider again. Late in the night, Dante began the genetic modification process that he had brainstormed years before. He had already known that the disease's initial outbreak was a reptilian flu, and had derived from household pets such as snakes and lizards, and believed that reptilian DNA could be the key to finding a cure. With that, he used DNA extract from a bearded dragon (considering that the lizards are quite common in ghost's ridge) for his experimentation in hopes of finally finding a resolve to his illness... ↳ ACT lIl ... The next morning, Dante immediately began too feel much more spry and well, although his eye had not seemed to heal. He quickly ran to the mirror to brush his fur and prepare for the day. Although, upon looking at his reflection, Dante realized that his experiment had backfired, and to his horror, he had grown lizard like horns upon his back. Terrified, Dante frantically tried to think back to his experiment, attempting to find a way to reverse the damage that had ensued. Although after hours of thinking and testing with no avail, Dante had began to come to terms with his new form, and the fact that it may never be reversed. Eventually, Dante learned that he could use his fur to cover the horns due to it's overgrown and unkempt nature, although he normally wore a large poncho to cover them, just in case. For the rest of his life, Dante continued to serve as a devout doctor to the citizens of Ghost's ridge, vowing to never conduct experiments with no set outcome, or ever dabble in the practice of genetic modification again. ┄┄┄ ERMM chat that took me way too long anyways sorry if this is cringe im not very hashtag literate art: me design by !
