Hey guys, as you know I've been offline for like agesss... I had a bunch of Year 9 exams that are basically practice exams for when we go into Year 10 but they were super stressful and I almost cried on the first day cuz I had a panic attack but I'm ok now. There were letters and numbers that showed you where you sat in the hall. My main seat was D6 and my friend was in A6 which was just a few rows to the left of mine but we couldn't talk. We were told constantly by the invigi- invi- I don't remember how to spell it. But they constantly told us to not talk and/or turn around to see our friends bc in a real exam we would be disqualified. I found it really hard to sit still and focus because of my ADHD but I got used to it after a bit. Doesn't sound that bad right? Wrong. When you finished you just had to sit there and wait. I waited like an hour at one point because I finished 30 mins through the exam and it was painfully boring. There were letters on the wall that went a b c d e f g h i j k l m so I just sat there and thought of as many words I could make with the letters which was fun for a bit but then I got bored again.. Luckily a fun moment happened when near or at the end the person at the front that was the thing I can't spell said "Year 9 stop moving the chairs and tables" or something along the lines of that and then almost all of the hall started moving their tables so I joined in and never got caught surprisingly bc I was literally in front of the person. How well I think I did: Maths: Mid - I did okay but I don't expect a high grade (edit, 9/2/24, I was right... I got 25/75 marks which is the equivalent to 1/3... I am so fricking bad at maths.) English: Rubbish TvT - I had to write a story and I couldn't think of anything so I wrote 4 paragraphs and there was students next to me with 2 or 3 pages done so I got really upset with myself afterwards. PRS (Philosophy and Religious Studies): Good - I think I did really well considering we only got 45 minutes for it. I just couldn't remember 2 or 3 questions is all. History: TERRIBLE - I literally got nothing done in the time limit so I'm lucky I'm not taking it for GCSEs D&T (Design and Technology): Idk - I can't really remember what I did for that one so.. Food Technology: Good - I did really good on this one I think. We were supposed to design a pastry so I did this samosa but instead of it being savoury I made a sweet one instead. I called it a chocolate pocket :). It had 3 layers, strawberries and strawberry jam for the 1st one, a thin layer of digestive biscuits for the second and chocolate for the 3rd layer. As you can tell I was extremely committed to this lol. So now I have completely done all the exams except for only 1 french one next week but its not in the hall so its fine. If you read down this far (cuz this is a lot of text ngl) you get one of my chocolate pockets.
If you're reading this, all of what I said was just my experience, I just picked out a few parts so don't be worried if you're soon to have your mock exams too. It's actually really simple just make sure you revise all topics that you need to before the exams. A good way to revise is to make google slides, revise with friends/family or you could make a document. Just make sure you do revise okay? Because I did not and it turned out terrible lol.
