Added a new 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 petrol. The 2.2 Turbo (found later in the 1994 Parmha Sculleria) was also added, along with the 3.0 I6 found in early mk4 Pavhia Athelings. This was the only I6 available in this generation of Genhoa, and Brandt engineers had a hard time getting it to fit! This means that this is one of the most expensive Sculleria models to own and maintain. However, it makes up for this in performance. Although the most expensive to run, it is also the best performing. Near perfect weight distribution (helped by the rare-for-the-era RWD setup) combined with a viscous limited slip differential, means this is a "sporty little number" (Brandt's advertising slogan for this model in 1994). There were a few special models of the Mk2 Genhoa. The Caserta was the most basic of these special editions and was essentially a base spec G hatchback with red bumper trim, a funky 90s interior and a funky B pillar vinyl cover. Unsurprisingly they weren't very popular but they still managed to shift over 5000 of these worldwide! More excitingly, there is the Blanco and Nero Especiale versions (of the speedy Sculleria model). The Blanco features Blanco Purio paintwork, clear rear lights and an optional white leather interior (although most buyers opted for the more trouser-problem friendly black leather). Those who know Brandt know about Nero Especiale editions. However this one is different - it is not based on a high spec base car - it is produced around a high spec Sculleria model. This includes the 3 litre straight 6! Other than that it is the same as every other Nero especiale. Fancy nero especiale purple paint, spokey wheels, limited production numbers etc. This one also came with a full Tonos sound system including subwoofers and speakers. Dark purple cloth interior was also standard on these (but could be optioned out for any of the other standard interiors) 1299 Road-going examples were produced by Brandt, and one test mule (LHD ) is kept at Brandt Museum in Italy. It was used by Brandt in 1992 to test the underpinnings of what became the mk1 Parmha in 1994! The Mk2 Genhoa provided a much more modern take on the commuter / family car for Brandt, especially in the company car boom of the 90s. Fleet managers enjoyed the frugal 1.6 petrol and 2.0 diesels, and real Brandt fans enjoyed the zippier models. Although less quirky than a lot of Brandts of the period (including the previous shape Genhoa) it sold well and was loved by many. Rust began to take hold after about 10 years, as did strong electrical issues, but you still see a few about these days (albeit usually low spec models owned by the older generation, high specs owned by the older generation, and sport models owned by the older generation.... Now that I think of it, this car definitely has a certain demographic...). -
