Welcome to Auklet’s training guide, aka how to identify cats’ potential for friendliness by how many mushrooms they have around them :> Most of this will not happen irp, but it is still canon!! Russetbloom’s apprenticeship mostly consisted of learning by herself and asking other warriors to teach her something, since her mentor didn’t interact with her much. Now that she has an apprentice of her own, she wants to show ae how to make their way around their territory and aer life the best way possible, but she also wants to leave time for aer own exploration, so that they can learn how to figure things out by themself. Rusestbloom will try to check in with Auklet at least every five days, seeing how ae feels about the training, and asking if there’s anything they want to change. She’ll try to stay flexible, ready to adjust to their needs, but there will be some situations where she’ll say that something will go best if it stays the way it is. Moon 1: -Introduction -Basic hunting -Basic plant identification -Basic knowledge of the territory -Basic social skills Russetbloom will want to get to know Auklet, so she’d try to tell them a little bit about herself, and ask about what kind of things ae likes, dislikes, is afraid of, etc. She will give ae an overview of what she will teach them, as well as begin learning most of those skills. For example, she will teach them the hunting crouch and one or two different ways to catch ground prey, show ae a lot of the plants that medicine cats use, and show them some landmarks and important spots of the territory. As for social skills, Russetbloom will basically shove Auklet into a crowd of cats, then ask how it went and what ae found out about the cats after. Moon 2: -Hunting -Using the plants around you -Basic fighting -Navigating -Social skills -Core values Russetbloom will review what she had taught the previous moon, and start adding on to those skills. She will show Auklet more hunting moves and possible prey, teach ae how to use the plants they can identify as well as teaching them new ones, and push them to try more social things. It will feel important to her that ae have some friends, because she had almost no one to turn to when her life pretty much collapsed. In addition to progressing on the already established skills, she will combine tracking and territory knowledge into navigating, leaving Auklet in certain situations where ae have to figure out how to get from one place to another. She will start teaching them basic fighting moves and rules, as well as discussing core values, both theirs and the Clan’s. Moon 3: -Hunting -Fighting -Navigating -Basic strategy -Helping a ‘wounded’ cat -Using strengths+core values More review, to make sure that the basics are always in place, and starting to learn and combine new skills. Strategy will be a combination of observation, thinking through lots of possibilities, and trial and error. Once the two have recognized their strengths and core values, Russetbloom will try to teach Auklet how to use those the best ways possible— again, a lot of experimenting will take place. And about 2-4 times throughout this moon, Auklet will find themself somewhere in the territory with a warrior who is pretending to be injured. Ae will have to guide them back to camp, calm down the other cat, and do what they can with the plants around them. This moon will be focusing on how to use the skills ae have learned. Moon 4: -Strategy and observation -Review -Challenges -Preparation for assessment -Assessment A lot of review will take place during this moon, and not as many new concepts will be shown, though the newer skills will continue being developed. In place of some lessons, there will be challenges, like the ones that were given during the last moon. The challenges will be more frequent and slightly more difficult. The assessment will be spread out over a couple of days, starting with easy tasks, like catching prey, and moving towards assignments that are basically a version of the challenges, but that depend on skills that are more like working together than tracking. After, Russetbloom will congratulate Auklet, giving ae a couple of final pieces of advice and compliments, and then send them on aer way as a new warrior.
