Part 2: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/973375824/ Hey! I have a lot of words to say so buckle up. I actually finished this a couple of days ago and forgot to post LOL- First off: Hydrogen's bio! Name: Hydrogen (Goes by Hyde) Gender: None, but adopts He/Him pronouns. Age: Nobody knows. Not even him. Personality: Hyde is a mischievous cat. He wasn't always like this but once he was by himself in the world, he had nothing to do. He couldn't perform organic functions like most of the other animals in the world, and oftentimes he would be rejected from joining packs and families due to his abnormal appearance, so he took to watching. Hyde oftentimes shows up in places you wouldn't expect him to and snoops. Hyde always knows your business, whether you want him to or not. Backstory: (Elaboration on the story in project) Hydrogen was an atom in the Earth's atmosphere like any other (It WASN'T only surrounded by Oxygen and Hydrogen, they're just the only ones that would fit lol). It's not sure how it happened, but slowly, over the years, it started to swell up and grow. As it grew, more things came into its sight that it had never seen before, but the atoms it was used soon began to shrink from its sight. Once it got large enough to see multicellular organisms, it started to gain sentience. It was full of curiosity and drifted through several habitats, seeing all there was to see. Though, it caught sight of a pack of smilodon populator (Saber toothed tiger) during an era of the ice age (Pleistocene epoch if you want to be specific), and was instantly intrigued. He liked the ferocity these creatures displayed whilst still maintaining an aura of dignity and familial love and appreciation. It desired to share that with them. Especially enthralling, was one smilodon who was also more curious than the rest. It was a cub, barely a month old, yet it was already pouncing on everything it saw. Hyde wanted to join, it wanted to enjoy the pulls of life. So it did. It's body morphed to fit its desire and it ran on its newly formed paws to join its pack. The cub and it were as close as could be. Best friends until the end. It lived with these felines, grew, and watched them die. It wasn't tragic, or, not as tragic as it may seem to be, it mourned, he mourned. And eventually, he was alone. He tried to join new packs, but he was rarely accepted in. Thousands of years passed with this lone cat wandering from pack to pack, morph to the next. Nowadays, he keeps its form, it feels perfect. There is no need to change how he looks. He isn't lonely, even if he can't find the companionship he longs for, he has made friends and acquaintances. But the world around him is changing, faster than he would expect, and he can't find it with himself to change fast enough. So he hides. He hides now, on the sidelines, observing, and playing tricks. One day, he hopes for the world to feel right for him to join back into, or for someone to find the one who always puts their controller not where they left it. Until then, he waits. Art! 1. Ref sheet! I didn't change up much about the design, it was more adding on little details and putting it into my own style. (Scratch ruined the quality) You can't see the words well but they say: "Hyde is a mischievous cat that tends to attach himself to one being and pops up from seemingly nowhere on occasion" & "Gas and smaller dots are subject to drift around and change positions" 2. First drawing I made! This was just me getting a feeling for the character since it has a slightly more detailed design than I'm used to. 3. Shading practice! I like to use a more painty type style for dramatic shading and got the chance to use that a bit in this drawing! 4. Thumbnail! 5. Short little animation I made. Very simplified design. I wanted to do a loop animation on scratch where we would get some cool wavy gas action. It didn't turn out exactly how I wanted but we do have this little thing I decided to include anyways. Don't look at it too long or it gets weirder lol. 6, 7. Little coding thing I did that turned out... ok? It has its bugs but I think it's cool! I decided just telling the backstory was boring so I wanted to do a little presentation thing on it. I will go into more depth below but it includes a sketch of Hydrogen atom Hyde encountering his first cat then how his look evolved over time as he met new and different felines.
Music: Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie Design: @yourstrulii Art: @alicornmagic1234 Coding: @alicornmagic1234 (It's a bit shaky LOL, I tried I think its cool. Just don't go through the whole slides twice without pressing the flag and resetting) Side notes: I can not thank you enough for making this if I'm being entirely honest. Regardless of whether I win or not, this was entirely fun. I have been in an art flop for MONTHS. On good months, I can make a full piece or two. With this, I've managed to do multiple pieces within the span of two weeks! I was just browsing scratch when I searched under "rotating" and found this. I love this little fella so much you don't understand. This was a fun project that brought my morale up and made me feel confident in my art again. I don't really use scratch much anymore, but I do try to make little projects. I haven't finished one (This being the first one in a LONG while) but now I'm convinced to start doing little things. I don't know whether I will continue to remain active on scratch with posting or not, but I will DEFINITELY enter in more of these. Your designs are so funky to draw and I love them! Didn't mean to get super long with this, but just overall, have a good day whoever's reading this! You guys are all amazing and deserve the best!
