Ruth and Lucy looked around and saw several other maids. “Here are your uniforms,” said one of them, handing one to both of them, “I’m Alice.” “Nice to meet you Alice, I’m Ruth, she’s Lucy,” “Nice to meet you two, now go get changed!” “Thank you!” Called Lucy as they ran to get changed. Soon, Ruth and Lucy came back to the other staff in full uniform. “Now, your assignment is to be the prince’s personal maid.” Alice told Ruth. “Where can I find the prince?” Ruth asked. “The housekeeper will show you the way.” Alice said. “Who’s the-” Ruth was cut off. “I’m the housekeeper," said a lady who had just come down the stairs, “Follow me.” Ruth followed the housekeeper to a door. “In there is the prince John. Always knock before entering.” The housekeeper told Ruth. “Thank you!” Ruth replied. The housekeeper then walked away. Ruth knocked on the prince's door. “Come in!” Prince John yelled. Ruth opened the door and saw the prince in person for the first time. Ruth curtsied. “I’m going to go horseback riding. Would you like to accompany me?” John said. “Accompany you? But I’m not allowed to do that! And I can’t ride horses!” Ruth replied, shocked. “Oh it's fine,” John said with a shrug, “No one else will ride with me anyways.” “Alright, if you insist.” John leads Ruth to the stables. “Alright, let’s go!” John says. “But, I don’t know how to ride!” Ruth protests. “I’ll teach you.” John replies. John helps Ruth on her horse and explains to her the basics. “Now let’s go!” John says, “You’ll get the hang of it!” “Okay.” Ruth says uncertainty. John slowly leads them out of the stables and onto the ground. Then, he starts going faster and faster. “Your Highness! Slow down!” Ruth says, struggling to keep up. “Come on, you can do it Ruth!” John yells back at her. Ruth starts to pick up the pace. “This is fun!” Ruth calls out, laughing. “Yes it is.” John says, slowing down and returning to the stables. John helps Ruth down. “Thank you, your highness.” Ruth says as she curtsies. “It’s a pleasure.” John replied.
