Hi guys! I was in the mood for writing about one of my fav OC ships of mine, Ashbyss! I hope you like it! Love my gay squad. For those who knew the characters before, I will note, Ahlex is Alex, I just changed the spelling of their name. Same with Ashlie. Her name used to be spell Ashley. I also wrote this late at night so sorry if it's bad. Characters (in order of mention): Mina: Togruta/Human, bigender, (She/He) Rex: Togruta/Human, demiboy (He/They) Ahlex: Human, non-binary (They/Them) Abyss: Twi'lek, girl (She/Her) Ashlie: Human, girl (She/Her) Cai: Human, boy (He/Him) That girl: Human, girl (She/Her) Enjoy! -- Ashlie POV -- Mina, Rex, and Ahlex were outside with Abyss watching them. Mina was supposed to be fixing part of the ship, and Rex being Rex, insisted on being outside with her. Ahlex joined them outside to keep Rex company while Mina worked, and Abyss was making sure Mina didn’t do anything stupid to the ship like she normally does. Ashlie was doing her daily check of the cockpit, making sure everything was still working. Were daily checks excessive? Maybe in a normal ship but not in this piece of junk. It was old and garbage, and with Mina on board you never really knew if she added anything that would probably end up with them blowing up while everyone was asleep. Curse that Mina. Curse. Her. What does Ahlex see in him? Who knows, but that’s their mistake, not hers. And even besides all that it helped distract her. Helped distract her from thinking of her stupid past with Cai, that stupid, stupid, /stupid, kriffing cheating piece of wampa poo/. She hit the coms console with her fist before sighing and making sure she didn’t really damage it. She had thought she had forgotten that part of her life by now but nope. Abyss ruined that. Her and her stupid smile. She swore no more romance after Cai. No dating. No crushes. Just being nice and single. As much as she hated her feelings towards Abyss she couldn’t hate Abyss herself. It wasn’t her fault Ashley had let her feelings get the better of her again. It wasn’t her fault that her smile was so darn pretty, or that her eyes were so beautiful. *Stop! Stop thinking like that Ash!* She pulled the feathers out of her hair and stared at them. The girl Cai had cheated on her with had given them to her to say sorry. They might seem like a stupid gift, but they had meant a lot to the girl. They were feathers of a Shyyyo bird. They had been one of the few memories that the girl had left of her home planet. And, while the feathers themselves weren’t that important Ashlie was honored that she had felt bad enough to give her these, not having anything better to give. And as honored as she was to have them, she kept them on her as a constant reminder to never fall in love again. However, they didn’t seem to be working lately. She felt her anger coming up again. Past anger at Cai, anger to her past self for being stupid enough to believe him when he said he loved her, and anger at her now for being stupid for even considering it again. And more anger at the fact that she would ever think that Abyss would ever be capable of cheating. And anger at the fact that she knew Abyss would probably never love her like that in the first place and here she was, still going against every rule she had put for herself knowing that fact. She sighed, and decided it was time for a break. Before she actually did break something. She went back to her room and flopped onto her bed. She reached beside her and grabbed her Mandalorian helmet, staring at it. Trying to think about and remember anything else. It wasn’t long before she heard someone knock on her door. “Come in.” She said. In walked a familiar red and black twi’lek, with big orange eyes. Great. Just who she had been trying to not think of. “What are you doing in here?” Ashlie asked, not getting up. “Shouldn’t you be watching the others?” Abyss laughed a little bit, smiling that adorable, infuriating smile of hers. “Well, I figured they’d be ok for a moment on their own. I came back in to check on you but you weren’t in the cockpit but you weren’t there so I came to check in here.” “Why?” Ashlie replied, keeping her emotions out of her voice. “I just thought I should . . .” Her smile faded a little bit. “And I guess I was right . . . you seem upset. Do you want to talk about it?” (Continued in Notes & Credits)
(Continued from above) “Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but that sounds like caring, and last I checked you were trying to be dark and intimidating.” She allowed a small smile to creep onto her face. Abyss rolled her eyes and stopped smiling. “Well, take this as one of the few times I’m not worried about that right now.” Her expression changed to sympathetic. “I’m kind of worried about you. I mean- you’re always kind of grumpy, but these past few days you’ve seemed actually upset. You’ve been getting angrier easier, and you keep zoning out. And sometimes when you do you don’t look mad or annoyed. You look . . . sad. If something is wrong, then I want to be there for you. As kind as that makes me look.” Abyss added on to the end to try and lighten the mood. “So . . . are you ok? Do you want to talk about it . . .? Ashlie sighed and looked away from her, staring at the ceiling. “Not really. Just . . . recently remembered an ex and it’s been frustrating me.” “Oh . . .” Abyss said, glancing at the floor. “One more time, you sure you don’t want to talk about it? It might help to get some things off your chest . . .” “I’m sure.” She had already said too much, no need to add on to that problem. Abyss sighed. “Alright then . . . should I tell the others to make sure they leave you alone?” “That would be nice.” “Okay.” Abyss turned to leave but stopped in the doorway. “Hey . . . the offer is going to stay open. If you ever change your mind.” Ashlie still didn’t look at her. “Thanks, but it won’t. Feel free to keep trying to be dark and intimidating.” “Heh, I will. But the offer is still staying open. Come out whenever you’re ready, I’m sure I can deal with Mina until then.” With that Abyss left the room. Ashlie sat there in the dark, occasionally glancing at the door. She hadn’t cried in years. Not since she broke up with Cai. Why did she suddenly want to again? -- Credits -- Star Wars for the universe, inspiration, and races.
