It was late at night, and he was about to go to bed after a long, tiring day when he saw the huge, dark shadow of a dragon land beside the faint light of the Glow-Flower. He had a feeling that this dragon was up to something terrible. Even though he was only six inches tall, his glow cast a soft light across the walls of his cave. He quietly tried to press himself into a tiny crevice at the back of his cave, hoping that the dragon wouldn’t see his glow. The dragon had its back turned to him and was whispering to someone he couldn’t see. He wondered what they were doing at the Glow-Flower so late at night and how they had gotten past the guards. Usually, the guards kept anyone from coming to the Glow-Flower at night unless it was an emergency. “If it was an emergency, I should have heard about it by now.”, he thought, still watching the dragon closely. Suddenly, the dragon turned and stared straight at him. Eyes wide, he watched as the dragon quickly turned away, spread its wings and silently rose into the night sky, dropping something behind it. Then, the thing hit the ground and shattered, a mist spreading out from it, creeping across the Glow-Village and obscuring it like a fog. In an instant, it enveloped him, too, and he felt exhaustion hit him so abruptly that he immediately slumped to the floor of his cave, completely drained of energy.
