Aqua and Lava turned to each other, alarm flaring in their eyes. “Let’s go!” Aqua shouted as they shot through the door and into the palace. They barely noticed the high ceiling and arched interior of the Entrance Hall. As they approached the door to the Meeting Room, they heard their parents gasp as the guards’ told their story. Lava burst inside, yelling, “What’s wrong?” They hardly noticed the elaborately decorated room as they skidded to a stop in front of their parents’ thrones. Everyone turned to face them, shocked by the interruption. King Crimson slowly rose, spreading his wings, his scarlet scales gleaming in the torchlight, and asked, “Why did you come in during our meeting?” “We were worried about what happened and wanted to help,” Aqua said, looking at her parents’ unusually shocked expressions. They were always so calm when bad things happened. This had to be really bad. “What did happen?” Lava asked. “Emerald and Sky found last night’s guards asleep when they went to relieve them of duty this morning. When they wouldn’t wake up, they realized they had been drugged and were unconscious.” Queen Cyan said, her light blue wings sagging slightly. “Really? Smoke and Fire? Who did it?” Lava asked, clearly shocked. “We don’t know,” Sky said, sorrowfully. “But you haven’t even heard the worst of it yet,” Emerald said, pausing, “The Glow-Flower has disappeared.”
