“WHAT!?!?” roared King Crimson, his eyes wide with disbelief. Queen Cyan’s mouth dropped open in horror. Aqua and Lava exchanged shocked glances. “We should go now,” declared Queen Cyan, “We have to find out what happened. Or else…” She trailed off, tears rolling down her cheeks at the thought of what could happen next. “Why, ‘or else’?” Lava asked. “Our reign will end.” King Crimson said bluntly. “WHAT!!! Why?!” Lava exclaimed, shocked. “Each ruler is bound by an oath to protect the Glow-People and the Glow-Flower at the cost of their lives. The Glow-Flower is central to the Glow-Peoples’ society, and if they are away from it for too long, they will lose their glow and, eventually, die. Any dynasty that allows the Glow-Flower to disappear is exiled, or worse, and the most popular dragon becomes the next King or Queen,” said Queen Cyan sadly. “And we all know who that would be…” King Crimson added bitterly. Aqua did know. If a new King were to be chosen, it would be Dark. Even though he was evil, he was very popular. “Could Dark have done this?” Aqua asked. “He could have.” King Crimson said, “But we can’t be sure. At least, not yet.” “We should go and see if the guards are awake yet,” Sky interjected. “You’re right.” sighed Queen Cyan, “Hopefully, we’ll find some answers.” “Let’s go!” declared Lava excitedly. As they ran out, a dragon detached itself from the darkness in a corner of the room, muttering, “I hope they don’t find out who really did it.”
