The so-called "Kids online safety act" passes tomorrow. If you don't know what that is, it will prevent any website that features "adult content" from being accessed by anyone under the age of 18. Sounds good, in theory-- However, it is so vague about what "adult content" is that it could mean anything-- News sites, certain parts of history like WWII, anything to do with LGBT issues... The list goes on. Under KOSA, Scratch will cease to exist. It's unlikely that a site aimed at kids that promotes minority rights would survive in a world plagued by KOSA, because people could consider something like that "too violent" for kids to see. It gets worse: in order to view any site with "adult content" (anything that isn't all sunshine and rainbows all the time,) you will have to provide your face and ID (Doesn't this directly go against what COPPA was trying to do? Make up your mind.) This will affect you even if you don't live in the US like me, because the sites themselves will be affected. And this includes Scratch. Most of the sites I use to keep in touch with friends are US-based, and Scratch was a huge part of my childhood, so I do not want to lose it. Please, if you're able, write or email your representatives. Do anything it takes within the next few hours to stop this bill from passing.
NOTE: LOVING THIS PROJECT DOES NOTHING. Not unless it hits an absurd amount of loves. Please remix this project and add it to studios to get it to be seen, or make your own project about it. the us government getting ready to pass the "sunshine and rainbows act" (it will allow them to dump 4 tons or radioactive waste into a nature reserve) (im joking about this but we're not too far off)
