I knew I was going to have a bad day the moment the rock hit the window. We had been in the middle of a prayer when the peace was shattered by a glassy "Thunk." A few people looked around, but my head didn't move. Sure enough, a few seconds later.... "Thunk." "Miss West." The old woman in the front of the room was staring right at me. "Why don't you go take care of that?" I stood up, straightening out my green plad skirt. "Yes ma'am." I said as I stepped out of the room. The walk down the halls seemed to take forever, because I knew exactly what was waiting. "Virginia!" Billy called from his old truck as I stepped out into the blinding sunlight. "Come on!" I rolled my eyes and stepped over rather quickly. "Billy Jones, you know very well I have church, and in fact, was in a meeting that you just so kindly interrupted." I turned to leave, but he grabbed my hand. "Come on, Virginia, you know only the good die young." "Good." I snapped back. "Then I'll be able to get away from you." He began to laugh. "You don't mean that." I stared at him. That dang, stubborn, blue eyed, handsome- "Maybe I do, maybe I don't." I stepped back far enough that he wouldn't be able to grab my hand this time. "Come on, come driving." He offered again. "They won't miss you in that stuffy building there." He nodded towards the church, and I looked back at it with a sigh. Billy offered the same thing every sunday, and I always gave him the same anwser. "No." I spun around and walked back. Halfway up the steps, I heard his voice from behind me. "If you don't come, I'll keep throwing rocks." I turned back. "If you don't leave, I'll call the cops, let them deal with you." He laughed, then started off the engine and sped away as I watched. "He turned off the car?" I asked myself. Gosh, how long had he planned on staying there for me? Sweet, I decided, but unacceptable. I could never love a boy like that. "Never ever ever." I muttered as I turned and stepped back into the red stone chapel. [I'll finish writing soon! Stay tuned!]
