i'm so obsessed with this design- i need to make a ref for him ngl. the little constellation markings are all over the place. just... ignore that ig? this is kind of a filler as the quality isn't the highest, but despite that i'm quite proud, it took me a while to do. i figured this could have something to do with his lore. at the start it is young orbit (age 6-9 years) and at the end it shows older orbit (13-20 years). i'd say that this is from when he revisits his childhood dwellings. the new lore that i've come up with for orbit/astronomy goes like this: orbit grows up on a small 'abandoned' shack at the foot of a magnifficent cliff edge over the atlantic ocean. this shack is actually a laboratory of sorts, or it is deemed one by his foster parent. his foster parent is a sort of crazed and distant scientest, ex-scientest in reality. orbit was abandoned, hence why orbit is under her care. orbit's foster parent (who is yet to be named and designed) was quite distant in orbit's childhood, they didn't really grow up with proper care and was left to wander freely by themself around their cliffside dwellings. orbit didn't attend school or anything, they were told that it was 'unimportant' or that he 'didn't need it'. orbit believed this. afterall, his foster parent was the only person that he knew, therefore all their faith and trust leant upon them. their word was the truth, their word was life. orbit would spend their childhood exploring the cliffside and learning of all the creatures that lived alongside him. they spent a fair amount of time observing the night sky, learning about astronomy and all of their foster parent's crazy beliefs and theories on outerspace and the world. they took all of this in, afterall, their foster parent was allknowing and smart. or so orbit was told. though, as all kids do, orbit grew older, became more mature and couldn't put up with the same old silly talk. they were bored of this life and its restrictions. they wanted to explore. their first attempts didn't go well, they told their foster parent, she said to tell her whenever he was going out. orbit told her of his plans and she got angry, saying that they couldn't leave, nobody could know of their amazing discoveries at this point. orbit responded saying that they wouldn't say anything, then attempted to leave to go on their adventure. but, their caregiver refused, now saying that she couldn't trust orbit. she couldn't trust them to not leave either. orbit yelled at her, and tried to force their way out. they were stopped, and had shackles put on their ankles and were bound by chains to the wall. a metal muzzle was fitted to their face. they couldn't leave now. orbit was now treated like junk, like a house pet or a prisoner. they were fed scraps of food and weren't allowed outside under any circumstances. those shackles and that metal muzzle weren't ever removed, orbit weren't feral, just apparently disobedient. this was for 'his own good'. though, over time the chains became weathered and rusty, their ancient and thin links became thinned. orbit began to wear them with their claws, and eventually, they broke off. instinctively, orbit fled. this had been too long, they couldn't tell if they were even sane or not. when their foster parent noticed, it were too late. orbit just continued to run, they had no sense of direction, they just had to assume that they were going to the right place. days passed during orbit's trek, god- orbit didn't even think they'd be making it. eventually, they just gave up. collapsed and put themselves at the mercy of the world. eventually, 14 year old orbit was found and brought into the nearby town. he was readopted into a loving family. orbit settles in well, but still feels wary after what happened with their previous caregiver. a few years after they initially became apart of this family, orbit leaves without saying a word. partially because they feel like they don't fit in, the rest they don't exactly know. it just felt natural. they are now left to fend for themselves on the street and figure out a life on their own.
