Set and playback patterns of LEDs In RECORD mode, set the LEDs by turning them on or off with the corresponding buttons. Hit the MEMORY button to store that display byte in memory. Hit CLEAR to delete the last memory entry. In PLAY mode, the stack of recorded bytes is displayed on the LEDs sequentially. Change the speed of playback with the SPEED ADJUST slider. Hit RESET to entirely clear the memory and return to PLAY mode. Hit the m key to see the memory and directly edit values. Hit the d key to restore a demo sequence
Way back in the mists of time in the early days of computing in schools, Valiant Technology made a programmable board called a Quickstep. You could turn each of the eight lights on or off and save the setting to memory, then play back the sequence of lights from the memory stack. You could even connect external lights, buzzers, or motors so each LED could correspond to a connected external device. Use this simulator to learn about storing bytes in memory and fetching them in sequence.
