Chive was sitting in the waiting room for her turn. The gamemakers. From what she knew, the gamemakers were mostly based on strength. Since she had little to nothing of that, she felt like she shouldn't even try. Her ears flattened against her head. She was one of the last districts to go, and the wait was unbearable. Finally, after what seemed like forever, her name was called over the intercom. "Chive Bellroot of District 11." The voice seemed to ring in her ears. She slowly stood up, brushing herself off, and strided over to the door. She breathed in, and then opened the door. Chive couldn't believe what she was seeing. It was a huge maze that seemed absolutely infinite. No way of escape, like a spider's web. She spotted a surveillance camera in the corner of the room. The red light was on. She was being recorded. Chive had already made something of a persona for the cameras, ever since the parade. She knew she had to live up to that, to even slightly help her chances of survival. She tried her best to mask her fear, and instead smiled. "Hello, everyone! I hope you're excited for my performance, and I will try my best to provide you with the best entertainment. Enjoy the show!" Her voice trembled slightly on that last sentence. Her gaze shifted to the entrance of the maze, as holographic eyes opened around the room. She hated this feeling. The feeling of being watched. She inhaled, then exhaled. Chive had been trying to get stronger ever since coming here, and she knew she should at least try. She shook her head, and charged into the maze headfirst. She realized that wasn't exactly the best plan, as she almost ran into a rack of weapons. Yikes. Chive grabbed a bow and arrow, which was really the only weapon she was good at handling. She loaded her arrows and saw a hologram in the distance. It was weirdly lifelike too. She drew the string and adjusted her aim, then shot the hologram straight through its chest. It didn't immediately dissipate, though, and so she shot another arrow at it, putting it down for good. She advanced through the maze, running for an exit, wanting this to be over already. There were more holograms though, armed with spears. The holograms charged towards her, nearly stabbing her with the tip of the spear, even if it wouldn't actually hurt her. She let out a small squeak, and loaded her bow again, shooting arrows at one hologram, then the other. It was harder since they were closer to her. She was surprised at her ability, but as soon as she took a second to stop, the hologram pinned her down and raised its spear, getting ready to stab her. She rolled out of it's way, and instead of trying to shoot every hologram down, she decided to make a run for it. After dodging, running, searching for the exit, and occasionally shooting an arrow or two, she saw the exit in front of her. Despite her aching legs, she pushed through and slid through. She was huffing and panting, trying to catch her breath. Chive was still being recorded. She caught her breath and inhaled, smiling at the camera once more. "I hope you enjoyed the show!
