Olive stepped out into the weaving maze of hallways and rooms. Shouldn't be too hard. Just like a corn maze, right? Wrong. How naive of her to think that. Of course, naturally, the capitol would have something other to entertain themselves. A sick twisted trick up their sleeves. Olive began walking down the corridor, took a left, and was met with a door. Strange. Something compelled them to open it. She didn't remember opening it, just that her paw subconsciously drifted towards the knob, turning it and pushing open the door. In front of them stood a treasure chest like object on a stand. Fae approached cautiously, opening the chest quickly and immediately jumping back. Seeing how nothing jumped out, she assumed it was safe to proceed. Olive peered inside the chest, and was met with an axe. Now this was strange. What could fae possibly have to use this for? Oh well. They would find out soon enough. Olive picked up the axe, and left the room. After making multiple turns and aimless walking down shiny white hallways, Olive came across another room. Yay! More prizes! Olive rushed towards the door and opened it. Nope. Wrong. Very wrong. Olive turned to leave the the door had closed. The hologram in front of her was large, probably 3 times bigger than them. It growled, hunching over in front of her, as is studying them. "Oh. Uh. Hello, Mr. Hologram. I think I'm a bit lost, could you please point me in the right-" Olive was cut off by the hologram as it took a swipe at her, which they narrowly avoided. Fae hissed at the hologram, taking out the axe. Oh. That's what it was for. Olive messily took a swing at the hologram, which landed a hit on it's leg, by some miracle. Maybe fae should have practiced with weapons more. The hologram retaliated with a small blow to her cheek. Olive yelped, dropping the axe. /Whatever. Didn't need it anyways./ They thought bitterly. Olive lunged at the hologram, claws out. She latched onto it's face, clawing and scratching at it. It tried desperately to shake them off, but to no avail. Olive leapt down, picking up the axe once again. While it was distracted, Olive swung the axe at it's neck, ending it swiftly. It faded away with a howl. Olive panted, trying to process what had just happened. They noticed that while regaining their composure, a platform had raised where the hologram once was. A small vial of liquid sat on it, labeled 'Capitol Medicine'. Sure. Not weird or suspicious at all. Olive picked it up, and as if being led like a stringed puppet, drank it in one sip. She felt the scratch on her cheek heal, as if nothing had ever happened there. The door opened and Olive left. The axe had been nowhere to be found, probably lost somewhere in all the chaos. Olive continued along, reaching another door. This time, the chest inside had a single dagger, which Olive swiftly picked up and inspected. Oh well. It would work, they supposed. Olive continued down the seemingly endless maze. Until they saw it. A door. But not a normal door. It seemed special. Almost a neon color, with a large eye on it, that seemed to follow faer every move. Perhaps... an exit! Yes! Olive began to rush towards it, but they should have been more cautious. She tripped a wire, sending a dart whizzing by her, missing them by a whisker. Olive turned to the source. Right, hidden arrows, of course, that's normal. Olive scanned the path ahead. more wires, easy to miss but somewhat visible to the trained eye. Ok. Easy. Just avoid them. Then she could leave. Olive, however, couldn't be more wrong. Three holograms appeared in front of them. These three were a bit smaller than the last one had been, but still posed a challenge. Plus, there were more. Fae was outnumbered. The first one charged at Olive. They somewhat avoided the attack, tail still getting trampled but remaining intact. Olive hissed, turning to face the hologram. Just as she was about to attack, the second one snuck up on them from behind. Olive turned just in time to give it a small scratch on it's underside. This would be, without a doubt, very difficult. Especially with nothing but a small dagger. Olive lunged at the first one, dagger pointing at it's eye. It landed, but the hologram remained mostly undeterred. That wasn't good. It seemed to be superstrong or something. The hologram took a swipe at Olive, knocking them over. Olive nearly hit a tripwire. A lightbulb went off in her head. That was it! Let the hologram trip the wire, and have the arrow take it out! Easier said than done though. The holograms may be big, but far from clumsy. Olive stood up, staring at the second hologram across from them. "Hey! Look at me! Totally defenseless! Come and get me!" Then, for added effect, stuck out her tongue at the hologram. The hologram, seemingly angered, ran towards Olive. Hopefully fae would get lucky and time it right. Just before the hologram arrived, Olive tripped the wire, and ducked quickly. (Continued)
They shut their eyes tight, hoping it worked. The agonized yelp from the hologram signified it likely had. They got back up, looking at the remaining two holograms. Olive walked, standing between the two holograms. The one with the missing eye, and the one that hadn't done much since Olive arrived. Olive held her dagger, but shoved it away for later. The first hologram (the one with the missing eye) ran at Olive. The other one charged as well. Thankfully, this was all going according to plan. As the first one lunged with a large blow, Olive ducked and let the hologram hit the other. The hologram disintegrated away, no sound coming from it's swift elimination. The first one, seemingly unfazed by eliminating a fellow hologram, turned back to Olive. For only having one eye, it was very skilled. Well, that was to be expected. The holograms were meant to create a challenging event after all. Olive jumped at the hologram, dagger in paw. The hologram lashed at her, but missed. Olive's dagger hit the hologram, but barely did anything before they were catapulted off, landing hard on the floor. The hologram towered over her, jaws open wide. Olive thrust the dagger upwards, eliminating the hologram swiftly. Olive stood up, looking around cautiously to make sure there was nothing else. Upon feeling safe to leave, Olive bolted towards the door. She fumbled with the doorknob, turning it and plunging into the darkness of the exit, away from the bright lights and watchful eyes.
