Chapter Nine So far, Celestina thought, being in the third year was good. She could go to Hogsmeade, and she was learning a lot faster and better than the first-years. She would bring back Butterbeer from the Three Broomsticks and candy from Honeydukes for Skylar, Lillianna, and Deli, to make sure they didn't miss out. "Hand me more of those Chocolate Frogs, will you, Celestina?" asked Skylar. Celestina handed her some. "Thanks," said Skylar. "Hogsmeade must be awesome," said Deli, taking a sip of Butterbeer. "Yeah, especially when it's snowing," replied Celestina. "It's enchanting." They hadn't seen Lillianna for a while, as she was a Hufflepuff and she was home for Christmas. But Celestina had made sure she sent some Hogsmeade treats to her. Before she knew it, Christmas break was over. The classes were back. Celestina ran quickly to Arithmancy class. "You're late, Ashley," said Professor Vector. "Sorry, Professor," said Celestina. "Take a seat, we were just starting." Once she had finished Arithmancy, she ran to Potions. Professor Snape gave the Slytherins a smile, and the Gryffindors a look of loathing. "Good morning, students. Today we shall be learning how to brew the Confusing Concoction. If brewed correctly, its effects shall confuse the victim for a period of time, depending on how well the potion is brewed. Flip to page 56 of Intermediate Potion-Making for the instructions and the list of ingredients." As usual, Professor Snape had given some good remarks to Celestina's potions, saying it would "Confuse and individual for a longer period of time than usual" and "Nothing like I'd ever seen before. Celestina was happy. It was a few days later in the week, and Celestina was doing her homework in the Slytherin Common Room. Then she panicked, as she had just remembered something. "Oh no!" she said, in horror, "I've forgotten to study for the test Professor Flitwick's giving us tomorrow!" "It's just a test, not an exam," said a nearby fifth-year. "There's nothing to worry about." "But it'll affect my grade!" said Celestina. "Oh, I'd better study for it now..." Then, without further ado, she ran up to her dormitory and grabbed her Charms textbook, then ran back down again. "OK... Cheering Charms... a spell that makes the victim happy..." Celestina studied until she was certain that she would get a good score, then ran up to her dormitory and fell fast asleep.
