Hello! I would like to welcome you to Leader Applications for Scratch Singing Camp (Abbreviated SSC)! I would like to start us off here with a remix tree, in case you would like to scroll through other applicants: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/976509874/remixtree Please read the entire description and the FAQ located in the notes and credits, to allow for minimal questions! But if you do have a question or want clarification, feel free to ask on my profile or in the comments! This session, our cabins will be based off of music genres (though this does not in any way limit what campers -or leaders- can sing!) so feel free to suggest genres to be added as cabins in your ‘Cabin Choices’ question in your app! There will most likely be 4 cabins up for leadership (I will probably be taking on a cabin as well) and up to 10 co-leaders that will also be needed, though if there is little participation I will likely cut it down to a co-leader per cabin. Also, there will likely be at least 1 co-leader for each cabin, so don’t feel discouraged if you aren’t chosen! If you don’t want to be a leader or want to be pinged for camper signups anyways, feel free to ask in the comments or on my profile. ~ Credits ~ @Strawberry-Lemon for hosting this session @-purpleprose- for creating SSC @Strawberry-Lemon for the description SWC leader apps by @Luna-Lovegood-LOL for heavy inspiration on questions and description Canva for slides, formatted by @Strawberry-Lemon SWC, SRC, SAC, and all major scratch camps for inspiration.
- FAQ - *please read everything, as it holds some valuable information for being a leader and/or camper! 1. What is SSC? SSC -Scratch Singing Camp- is a biannual virtual camp occurring 100% on scratch! It occurs during May, and then comes back again for a second session in October. SSC encourages singing growth and a positive community for young and experienced singers alike to flourish. 2. What kind of responsibilities does a (co)leader have? -contribute to cabin planning and development -act as a cabin supervisor -answer questions for campers IF you know the answer -providing a contact point to the host if the campers or themselves have any questions -update minute counts in a timely manner 3. When is the application due? 11:59 PM UTC on March 20th 4. When will (co)leaders be chosen? Likely a few days after applications close, where I will announce and contact all chosen leaders. After that, leaders will have a chance to choose their cos, so they will be extending offers probably a few days after leaders are chosen. 5. Do I have to have a lot of singing experience to apply? No! If this sounds interesting or you want to learn, then I encourage you to apply, no matter your skill level. 6. Do themes for the app have to be fancy? Not at all. Applications are, however, judged off of creativity, so even a simple drawing or recording of your voice (if you feel comfortable) are welcome and may distinguish you from the rest of the applicants. However, you are free to just answer the questions as listed on the slides if that is how you want to roll! 7. What is the difference between a leader and a co-leader? Leaders simply have more responsibility, and generally are the ones creating the main theme for the cabin. The job of a co is to help their leader stay organized and help them if they have life commitments! 8. Can I get an extension on my application? On very rare occasions, yes. But due to the fact I will be on vacation several days after applications are due and leaders are announced, the chances of approval are going to be only if something urgent comes up. 9. Is there a word cap on applications? Given as this is the first time, no. There will be no word cap on applications, and I will simply be reading through whatever you have the time to write :) 10. How will I know when you’ve seen my application? I get a notification every time somebody remixes, and have the remixtree so I can thoroughly make sure I have everybody’s looked over, so no need to link it in the comments!
