Welcome to Kiko: A Picture Story. This story has a new feature: a variable that tells you what page you're on. Space or tap to move on. Warning: running away (PLEASE DON'T DO THIS IN REAL LIFE!!!) Age 9: Kiko is a spunky girl that has an interest in fantasy (specifically dragons). She wants to bleach her hair, but her parents think she's too young. Age 10: Kiko's parents enroll her in a private school where they have to wear uniforms, and Kiko doesn't like that, so her parents let her bleach a streak of her hair, like she's been wanting, to make up for it. She gets a best friend at her new school named Lena. Age 11: Her hair suddenly gets really frizzy, and she gets a crush on a boy at her church named Felix. Age 12: Kiko's parents have been fighting a lot lately, and they don't even notice when she bleaches the rest of her hair. Age 13: Her parents divorce. She is very sad, and goes to live with her mom, who enrolls her in a public school. She is upset to leave Lena. Her mom also makes her dye her hair red, get her hair cut, and get more piercings (things her Dad would never let her do) because she doesn't think Kiko is "cool enough" for the contest she wants to enter Kiko in. This is not her style! Age 14: On a visit to her dad's, Kiko begs him to help her get away from her mom. The contest is in a month! Her dad agrees, and he gives her everything she needs to run away. She grows her hair out a little, and dyes it brown. She doesn't wear earrings, and her "runaway" name is Olivia (a common, unnoticeable name). Age 14.5: "Olivia" runs to Lena's foster center, and asks her to run away with her. The conditions at the center are terrible, so Lena agrees. She also asks to take her cousin along. Why not? Lena's cousin is Felix! Even so, the three head off together. Kiko starts to act like herself again, and warms up to being around Felix. Age 15: During 6 months, the three friends rented an apartment together. Kiko has a job at Starbucks, Felix at McDonald's, and Lena at Chick-Fil-A. They would've gotten a job at the same restaurant, but there was a job shortage. Kiko's hair is back to its natural color. Age 16: Kiko admits her feelings to Felix, who just walks away. A few weeks later he comes back to her and tells her that he was just embarrassed because he feels the same. They start dating. Later, the three dye strips of their hair blue. Age 18: To celebrate them turning 18, each of them fosters a child. (Lena was especially excited about this because she was an orphan and was never fostered) They all have better paying jobs now. One day, there is a knock at the apartment door: Kiko's mom, and she is crying. She is so glad to have finally found her daughter. They sit down together and Faye (her mom) apologizes for her previous behavior. She just wanted the best for Kiko. Faye asks Kiko to come back home with her, but Kiko says that she is fostering a child, and she and Felix are planning on getting married soon. Faye understands, tells Kiko her phone number, and says goodbye. Age 19: Felix and Kiko get married, and they permanently adopt their fostered kids. Age 21: Kiko has a daughter named Mary, and Kiko's parents get back together. Lena loses everything in a flood, and comes to live with her cousin and BFF. THE END Other People (in relationship to Kiko unless specified): Faye (mom) Shane (dad) Lena (best friend from private school) Felix (crush from church and husband, Lena's cousin) Elyse (Lena's foster kid) Isabel (Felix foster kid, Felix and Kiko's daughter) Franque (Kiko's foster kid and son) Mary (daughter)
