"you're not a student," lanai accused. the silence shattered once more. the angel laughed. laughter, with joy. an emotion. "i don't have to be. here, we're all the same, isn't that right?" the question was directed at yuying. she swallowed. "yes." one of the girls- vishakha- spoke. "if you're not a student, who are you?" the angel looked at him, then smiled. "my name is seonghwa." "i don't know who that is," jenna said. "are you on our side?" the angel- seonghwa- laughed. "i have emotions. do you think i would be on the government's side?" "maybe," juyeon said sullenly. "you could be a spy." seonghwa studied him. "is there a reason for me to be a spy?" "no," juyeon admitted. yuying found her voice again. she forced herself to step forward, raise her head and meet seonghwa's dark, unreadable eyes. "if you aren't our enemy, you must be an ally. welcome to the resistance."
