Genevieve’s Secret Chapter 9 Walking through the brush, we followed the footsteps I knew belonged to Quaritch and his team. I stayed behind Lo’ak and Spider mainly out of fear. Soon enough we were crouching and looking through some leaves at them observing the sight. "Dad, there are Na'vi looking around at the abandoned ship. They are wearing army clothing," Lo'ak said. He was speaking to Dad over the comms. "I know. Kiri and Tuk came and told us, we'll be there soon. Get out of there as soon as possible," Dad said, urgently. We started leaving, but I knew we'd probably get caught. Just as I predicted Quaritch's crew jumpscared us. Me and the boys huddled in a circle. I hissed as they circled us. I saw Quaritch and made a quick decision. I pretended to make a run for it past Quaritch. He grabbed my arm. I used this to swing myself onto his back. I pressed my knife to his neck. "Let us go, or your general dies," I said. Quaritch raised his hands and said, "Let them go." The crew created an opening in their circle. Lo'ak did something with his fingers that wasn't very nice as he and Spider walked away. One of the crew grabbed Lo'ak's arm and showed Quaritch his hands (because of the amount of fingers). "Lo'ak!" Spider called. "Spider go," Lo'ak said. "Well, well, well, what do we have here?" Quaritch said, "You're his, aren't you." I pressed my knife harder against his neck. The crew member let go of Lo'ak's arm. I jumped off his back and kept my knife faced towards them as I backed away. Then, I saw something whiz past me. It was an arrow, one of the crew members fell from being struck with the arrow. I recognized the arrow, it was Mom's. I tried to run, but as I was distracted, Quaritch grabbed my arm and held his knife against my neck. "Hey! That's not fair!" I exclaimed. He ignored me and turned in a circle looking for Mom. "Come on out, or your daughter dies," he shouted. "No, I won't!" I said, folding my arms in denial. "Just be quiet!" he whisper-shouted in my ear. "Ow," I said. Another arrow flew by and Quaritch turned to see where it landed. I used this to my advantage and escaped his arms. They started shooting toward where the arrow came from. "Grab her!" Quaritch commanded. One of the crewmates grabbed me and put their knife against my neck. "Not Again!" I exclaimed. The crewmate hit my head to get me to shut up. I rubbed my head. Then I started humming a song I had stuck in my head as eclipse came. Eventually, I got to singing the words quietly, then rather loudly. The crew looked at me confused. I kept singing. Then, another arrow came and shot the crewmate holding me. He dropped to the ground and I kept singing as I ran. "Get her!" Quaritch said, behind me. I heard running behind me and then an arm grabbed me, but it wasn't from behind me. It was Neteyam, Lo'ak, and Spider. We ran until we reached Dad. Dad had us get onto our Ikran and fly off while he got Mom. I flew away from the island with the boys and we reached home soon. After a few minutes, Mom and Dad arrived at home. "What was that song Nal? That didn't sound like a Na'vi song," Lo'ak questioned, "Also, how did you know something bad was going to happen?" "Just, don't ask," I said. "Well, I just did, so answer," Lo'ak threw back. "It's complicated is the short answer," I said. "What song are they talking about Nal?" Kiri asked. "Can you sing it for us?" Tuk asked, excited. "Sure, Tuk," I said. I started singing the song and pretending I had a microphone in my hand. By the time I was done, a few people had gathered around us. I felt myself getting red when I realized how many people were listening to me. Even, Mom and Dad. I hid behind Kiri and a few of them laughed. Then, all of them walked away except for my family. I smiled awkwardly as Mom and Dad walked towards me. "I think it's time for me to go to bed!" I said, trying to avoid an awkward conversation. "Not so fast young lady," Dad said behind me. I bit my lip and turned around, "Whatever do you mean Father?" I asked, innocently. "I need to talk to you, alone, if that's alright," Dad said. I sighed and followed him inside of the tent.
