Please read this, because the game does a pretty bad job at explaining some of the systems. QnA: What am I doing? When you begin, clicking the letter on the bottom left will bring up the next bill. After reading the proposal, it’s up to you to decide whether or not to approve or deny it. What’s happening? Every time you approve or deny a bill, the overall happiness, population, funds, or global tension changes. It’s up to you to balance each of these, and try to bring Earth from the brink of collapse. How do the numbers change? If left on their own, with no bills influencing them, these are how the numbers will change on their own: -Happiness: Will drop by a steady percent each bill. -Population: Grows by 10% every day. -Funds: Exponentially increases as population increases. -Global Tension: Drops consistently throughout the game. What does the rocket button do? It mandates a percent of the population to be shipped to mars, use this to help with growing expenses, but be careful not to ship too many people off, or the US may become a ghost town. What's the printer for? When clicked on, the printer uses state-of-the-art technology to show you the state of the country at the moment. Of course, such sophisticated tech breaks easily, so use it sparingly! Things That I Want To Get Done But Would Go So Far Over The Already Extended Deadline That It Would Be Rude To Even Consider Asking For It So I Will Probably Just Do Later (TTIWTGDBWGSFOTAEDTIWBRTECAFISIWPJDL): - More Sounds - More Bills - More News - Better Endings - Better Readability - Better Graphics I do plan on continuing work on this game until it reaches its full potential, so do return to see its progress from time to time. Bugs I am aware of: -Newspaper doesn't go away when clicked. -Sticky Note Tutorial not transparent sometimes.
This game was made for an Independent Reading Response Project about the book The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury. In this game, you take control as the president of the United States, in the far off year of 2012. You are tasked with approving or denying several bills and proposals that come your way, from potential laws and ordinances, to letters from the people of your country. It’s up to you to manage not only the population and happiness of America, but also the dwindling relationship between the countries on Earth. Luckily for you, space travel to the planet Mars has just been discovered, and its use has been placed in your hands. Whenever that pesky population of yours acts up, just ship them straight to Mars, where they’re sure to be happy.
