This is my contest entry for the studio “Alligators!” by @Aasimaligator84 It is a picture of a jellyfish ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -Jellyfish are the oldest multi-organ animal, they have roamed the sea for at least 600 million years-they survived five mass extinctions, including the Great Dying(or the Permian-Triassic extinction event) that wiped out 70% of life on Earth! -They don’t have brains. Not only that, but they also don’t have blood, bones, or a heart! -There are a species of jellyfish that are immortal-in the seas of Japan, the immortal jellyfish(Turritopsis dohrnii) is biologically immortal -Not all jellyfish have tentacles, the Deepstaria, is a genus of jellyfish with thin, sheet-like bodies and no tentacles - The biggest type of jelly fish is the Lion’s Mane jellyfish, which is also called Giant jellyfish or hair jelly -150 million people are stung by jellyfish every year- so in the few minutes it’s taken you to read to here, 1,000 or more people have been stung
