!! the hook size or yarn doesn't really matter, or at least it's worked for me !! [ you'll need a hook size and yarn of liking, a darning needle, safety eyes (opt., you can embroider them like i did), and scissors ] round 1: 7 sc into a magic loop/ ring (7) round 2: 7 inc (14) round 3-4: 14 sc (14) round 5: [1 sc, 3 (invisible) dec] x 2 (8) -add eyes between rounds 3 and 4, with 2 st in BETWEEN (go 3 stitches to the left or right) round 6: [sl st in next front loop, ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook] x 8 , then sc into the first sl st you made for the first tentacle to pull the last one down (8 little tentacles) -fasten off leaving a long tail- -stuff the octo- use hook to grab the yarn and pull it to the inside for sewing it close, then sew the bottom close by pulling the tail through the back loops
