06/09/2026 Adobe Illustrator has a built-in feature called swatches, which you can use to apply patterns to, but Scratch doesn't have swatches so your vector file gets imported with all swatched items pitch-black when exported to the program. My main use for this tool is to add camouflage patterns to uniforms because doing it manually in Scratch is tedious. FIX: In Illustrator, you have to go to Object>Expand to "bake" the swatch into the object so it can be exported as simple shapes so Scratch can show you your swatch. The issue with this is that it will upload the entire swatch into the background, but invisible, so horrible optimization. You will see a lot of invisible shapes from paths when you select your object. To fix this, you want to go to Window>Pathfinder, and in that menu, you want to click the crop button to finish it off. Export to Scratch, and you will find that what you see in Illustrator is now what you see in Scratch. Can't believe it took me 2 years to figure this out, but here we are, and hopefully I can take advantage of this as much as possible because I used to hate making models with camouflage patterns.
