Rein felt an arm around his neck, and another arm underneath his knees. He cracked an eye open, and saw Deimos, the god of fear. He dimly remembered being in a car, and Deimos saying something about Rein being cute when he wanted to be. Then he realized he was looking up at the god, and froze. Was the god of fear actually carrying him? And if so, why? Rein looked at the god more closely, and saw brilliant gray eyes that almost matched his own. Deimos looked down at him, and said, "Finally, you're awake!" The god set him down carefully, keeping a hand on his shoulders. Once the god knew he was steady, he let go of Rein, and said, "Lord Chaos and Lord Sorani are ready for you." "Lord Sorani?" Rein asked, bending his knees a couple of times. He walked a couple of steps, then turned back to the god. "Are you coming in with me?" Deimos laughed, and shook his head. "They don't want me in there." Without thinking, and acting impulsively, Rein grabbed his hand, and Deimos looked at him. There was fear in the god's eyes, which Rein found ironic. Standing here was Deimos, the god of fear, and he had fear in his eyes. "Exactly, 'they don't want you in there.' But I do," Rein said with a smile. Why he felt as if he needed Deimos beside him, he didn't know. Maybe the gods had cursed him after all. And had Aphrodite, the goddess of love, do it. Deimos smiled at him, and said, "Rebel move." He smirked, and grabbed Rein's hand. "I like it." Rein smiled as Deimos took him into the room. Deimos opened the door, and glanced at Rein. The god of fear smiled encouragingly, and tried to let go of Rein's hand. Anticipating the god's action, Rein made his grip harder. "I can't go in, Rein," Deimos said, trying to get Rein to release his grip. "You can do it by yourself." Before Rein could a word out, the door opened, and James Sorani stepped out. "We've been waiting for a while, Meleager." Deimos shrugged, obviously not sorry. "I had his father chasing me," he said with a smirk. Rein turned to him, and asked, "Why didn't you tell me that my father was chasing us?" "He was looking for you, not chasing us," Deimos corrected, looking at him. Rein narrowed his eyes, and ticked his head to the side. Deimos leaned closer, and whispered, "It's for your own good." Then, the god of fear tore his hand from Rein's grip, and walked away. James Sorani put a hand on his shoulder, and said, "He'll come around, Rein." Then, his old teacher, now his mentor, guided him into the little building. In what looked like the living room, without any furniture, was a black void, just like the one Rein had seen in his dream. But now, the black void was bigger, and James Sorani's expression was happier. Full of joy. "Rein Meleager Thomas. We meet again," a cold, dark voice said. Rein shuddered slightly, not responding. "I see that Deimos has taken a liking to you." Whether it was a statement or a question, Rein couldn't tell, so he kept his mouth shut. Beside him, he saw James Sorani wink at him. Then, he took a step forward and said, "My Lord, Deimos has a. . .crush." He paused and glanced at Rein. "As a mortal might say." Rein laughed before he could think better of it. He slapped his knee, and said, "You're serious," when no one was laughing with him. "Why would he have a crush on me? Of all people, he chose the son of d3?" Rein asked after a moment of silence. James Sorani kept looking between the black void and Rein. After a minute, James Sorani looked at Rein, and said, "Because you remind him of himself, and he likes who you are as a person?" He spoke like it was obvious, and Rein immediately felt dumb. "Never mind that," Chaos spoke from the dark void. "Sorani, assist me." Rein froze when James Sorani started speaking Ancient Greek. In his head, he saw the translation. *Transform Chaos, give him a body, worthy of the deeds. Transform Lord Chaos, gift him with a body worthy of his needs. Transform Chaos with his own body, reading to preform necessary tasks. Transform the Lord of Chaos, and let him reign on Earth forever!* Rein stumbled, and closed his eyes. He felt a pair of strong arms around his waist, and hoped it wasn't James Sorani that caught him. He hoped it was Deimos. "Open your eyes, Rein," he heard Deimos say softly. *Thank the gods,* Rein thought to himself. He opened his eyes, and looked up into Deimos's eyes. Deimos eye's were dark gray, just like his. "He won't hurt you, Rein," the god of fear said softly. Rein nodded, and slowly looked at the human form of Chaos. He was shocked. The primordial god of Chaos had spiky black hair, and tan skin. When he said Chaos was jacked, he meant it. He was wearing a
shirt that showed his abs and muscles. If any girl or guy saw him, they'd either fall for Chaos, or be jealous of him. Rein looked at Chaos's face, and saw a smirk worthy of the jocks at the school he used to go to. "Well, d@m|\|," Rein said with a small smile. "You look fine." Deimos glared at him, and Rein said, "I like you better." Deimos brightened at his words. Chaos laughed, and said, "Good. Because I'm straight." He spoke with a straight face. Rein couldn't help it. He bent over, and started laughing. He knew that the two gods and James Sorani were starring at him. But he couldn't help it. After a minute, James Sorani was laughing next to him. "Oh my-d@m|\|!" His old teacher said, taking a deep breath. The two gods looked at them, like something was wrong with them. Then, Rein forced himself to calm down. James Sorani looked at him, and nodded. "Can y'all stop?" Chaos asked after a moment. "It isn't funny. It's time to get serious." Deimos took Rein's hand in his, and squeezed it. James Sorani got a serious look on his face, and Rein knew the time for fun was past. "Work with us, Meleager Thomas, and you shall become the king of the underworld," Lord Chaos said to him. He spoke strongly, like there was no doubt in the world. "My name is Rein," He said after a minute. "Not Meleager." Chaos and James Sorani exchanged a glance. "No, you're name is Meleager, you were brought back to life by Thanatos," Chaos said slowly. Rein looked at Deimos, who didn't say anything. Either Deimos didn't know, or he was afraid of telling Rein this act. "Meleager was punished by the gods for talking with me," Chaos said after a long moment. "But work with me, become the king of the underworld, and bring your mother back." "How much do you need from me in return?" Rein asked after a moment of silence. Chaos smiled, and didn't answer. He thought of something, and shuddered. He knew exactly what Chaos wanted, and didn't like what he was supposed to do.
