Kira was slightly taken aback by this- Flash was a rude, offensive, snarky, argumentative person who loved to offend people, and Kira had been upset by him more than once. But… this was.. different. Flash was treating her like all the other guards she’d known had; he was treating her like… she was less-then. Normally, this wouldn’t have surprised Kira. But coming from Flash.. it did. And for a moment, she was at a loss for words. Finally, she snapped back to reality. She shook away more thoughts of her past that she’d rather not think of in the first place and took a stubborn step forward, her eyes narrowing. She. Was. Not. Leaving. “See if I care about your ‘consequences’,” she snapped. “You mystics always talk about the consequences, about the ‘horrible’ things you’re willing to do, but nothing could be worse than the things some of my family has been through.” Flash looked up, with a sort of ‘dead’ look in his eyes, one that disturbed Kira even more.. it was like Flash was a completely different person, like there was a curtain that had covered him and.. it finally broke. A grim sort of smile slipped across his face. “You have no idea, do you. The kind of pain that people like my father are willing to put cats like you through for the tiniest of mistakes. Punishments that would make you wish you’d just die.” He muttered. Kira just.. stood there. What in the world was she supposed to say to THAT?? Then.. she felt that burning inside her again. The one that everyone always told her to suppress, the fire that threatened to consume her whenever things went wrong. It burned hotter and hotter inside her until she couldn’t bear to control it anymore. “And you SUPPORT that?! Knowing what’s done to the innocent??” She snarled, her eyes burning with an angered, furious, pained fire. Flash snapped forward, his shoulders turned up in a defensive sort of manner. “Support it?! Kira, who do you think I AM?! I’ve seen my FRIENDS thrown into that ‘fire’. I’ve watched them ‘burn’ while everyone expected me to smile. Why in the world do you think I came here?!” He cried. Flash had finally lost it, Kira thought. His eyes had this.. desperate, furious look now. No.. a crazed sort of look. The kind of expression that made it so Kira wouldn’t be surprised if he jumped out and dug his teeth into her neck. Kira stood firm, though she didn’t want to. She wanted to run.. she didn’t care if it was away or towards Flash, to leave him be or tear him apart, but that aching feeling in her paws was back again, and they told her to RUN. But she knew she couldn’t, so she stayed put, trying to hush the aching, telling it that this wasn’t the right time. It didn’t listen. The burning fire inside, the aching, the thoughts that she always tried to brush away. They never listened. Instead, they persisted, telling her to do what everyone always told her not to. They told her to fight. “Then you fight, Flash. You fight back. You’re on the inside! Do you KNOW what you could do against all of this?!” She argued. Part of her felt sorry for him, pained by the things he told her… the other half, though, felt no pity, no sympathy. Only anger, red hot anger, and that side was taking over so fast that the other side couldn’t even think of how it could fight back. I think you know which side won. Tears formed once again at the edges of Flash’s eyes. He’d barely just stopped them when Kira arrived.. now it was all starting again. “I CAN’T! You.. don’t know what it’s like. Your parents are on the same SIDE as you. Imagine having to choose between your family and what you believe!” He replied desperately. “How can you expect me to make a decision like that?!” Kira’s eyes narrowed. “It’s your father or the world, Flash. In any case- you HATE your father!” Flash looked away. He didn’t want this conversation to continue. He just wanted to curl up somewhere dark and cold and never be seen again. Fall asleep and never wake up. Kira scowled, turning and storming out of the den. She found Flower waiting outside for her, tears streaming down her little cheeks. Her fearful eyes followed Kira, waiting for Kira to just.. say something. Kira’s expression softened. She must’ve scared Flower and so she left.. it was at this point that Kira began to wonder; had she done the right thing?
