As many will agree, The Owl House is an AMAZING show. And there are many, many reasons why it's so great! So today, I'm here to talk about all the things that make The Owl House a work of genius. This will contain spoilers! First of all, it has a great story and characters you can really get attached to, and it really feels like you're going on adventures with them. When there's a particularly emotional scene (which the writers and animators are VERY good at conveying), it's hard not to tear up. There are also plenty of twists and turns that many people never saw coming. The only flaw I can really find in the plot is that season 3 is a little shaky, but that's mainly because the show was cut and they had to rework a lot of things (though they still did amazing, especially considering the changes they had to make last-minute!) Second of all, the art is BEAUTIFUL. The art style is very nice, and have you seen the fight scenes?! It's clear that the animators put a lot of work into animating this show. They also have some fairly complicated character designs, which must be pretty difficult to animate-- When you take that into account, the animation quality is downright impressive! Last but certainly not least, the topic I wanted to talk the most about: Representation. Of course, there's the representation that people always talk about-- the queer representation (Two canon same-gender relationships, Luz x Amity and Willow's dads, and some fanon ones too, as well as two nonbinary characters, Raine and Masha). But there's actually much more than that! For example, Luz is confirmed to have ADHD, and though it's never confirmed, it's very clear that Hunter has PTSD. I believe Willow also has anxiety, and Gus and Hunter may be autistic. Luz also seems to have depression in season 3. There's even some representation of chronic illnesses (Eda's curse) and addiction (Belos's Palisman addiction). Not only that, but there's even incredibly realistic depictions of panic attacks-- King in Echoes of the Past, Hunter in Hollow Mind and Labyrinth Runners, Gus in Labyrinth Runners, Willow in For The Future (I think, I may have the wrong episode)... And probably others that I've forgotten about. I think all this representation is the main reason The Owl House is such a great show, especially considering it's so well done. And can we also talk about how well-developed Luz and Amity's relationship is? It doesn't feel too rushed, and while there are a few Lumity-centric episodes, their love doesn't get in the way of the plot. The implied relationship between Hunter and Willow is also really well done. I think that's all I have to say about what makes TOH so great! If you haven't already watched it, you totally should, it's absolutely amazing. Thanks for reading! This is Rowan, signing off!
