How to write a book. Seems like a stupid proj but just wait. I just finished my first novel (dystopian 85,400 words) and gosh. it was an adventure. so I am here to share my knowledge. here we goooo ⏳ brainstorming ᯤ⋆.ೃ࿔ ⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯ ·˚꒰ okkk so y'all've heard like the: "Oh do a chapter by chapter outline" and the "ohhh don't outline it will ruin your book" soooo what do you do??? Do whatever works for you. For me, I started a chapter by chapter outline and that was just not working for me. It got me into such a writers block. sooo for book 2 of p.bbb. If you're new here, project bbb is a dark dystopian thriller. The vibe is enemies to lovers, betrayal, broken families, blood vows, life or death. so yeah. ·˚ ok so enough of that. so if you are like a die hard plotter, you do you. a chapter by chapter by outline. If you don't like plotting like me, I usually stick with the 3 act story structure. But how do u even get to that point? When I have a book idea, I start with the mc and the basic plot. I open up a google doc and just spill everything that's in my brain. It's super messy and out of order, but that's okay because it's the basic brainstorm. Brainstorm to your hearts content. ☕ the vibe ᯤ⋆.ೃ࿔ ·˚ by far my favorite part. The first thing I do is make a playlist. I make two playlists. One for writing, one for the vibe. Like 90% of the time listening to songs with lyrics is very distracting so I listen to soundtracks. So I have 1 soundtrack playlist and 1 playlist that reminds me of my book. Listening to it literally gives me chills. ·˚ moodboards!! My favorite part. My current board literally has 267 p!ns.... heh.... I get carried away when it comes to my book. ᵖʳᵒʲᵉᶜᵗ ᵇᵇᵇ ᵖˡᵃʸˡⁱˢᵗ ·˚꒰ darkside + neoni ꜝꜝ ·˚꒰ glory and gore + lorde ꜝꜝ ·˚꒰ this is not a game + chemical brothers ꜝꜝ ·˚꒰ castle + halsey ꜝꜝ ·˚꒰ no time to d!e + billie eilish ꜝꜝ ·˚꒰ toxic + 2WEI ꜝꜝ ? ˖. ♡̷̸ mc's + plotting " ? ! ·˚ The second step of plotting after the brainstorming is the characters. A while back I created a f2u character profile without all the fluff like the ones literally everywhere. All you really need is looks+personality+internal conflict+backstory and you're set. ·˚ 3 act story structure is my go to. I use Abbie Emmon's template. This has helped me so much and really helps focus on a character driven story rather than a plot driven story. The basics of the 3 act story structure is: ACT ONE Hook Inciting Incident 1st plot point Pre-midpoint reactionary hero ACT TWO Game changing midpoint Post midpoint action hero Pinch point ACT THREE Dark moment Aha moment Climatic confrontation Resolution/end This is what I use for literally all of my stories and it WORKS. It gives just enough back bone for structure but also gives you plenty of freedom. For project bbb I did a chapter by chapter outline AND the 3 act outline and I highly recommend that. ‧₊˚ ☁️⋅writing ₊˚ෆ ·˚ so the obvious part: writing. The hard part. Obviously. This is gonna take some grit. BUT YOU CAN DO IT. I recommend writing every. single. day. Whether it's 20 words or 20 hundred, it's something. Personally, I'm so busy and my schedule varies so much with school, track, homework, and friends that I don't have a set schedule, I just write when I can. ·˚ the most important thing you can do while writing a book is LEARN about writing. yes, I know, that sounds awful, but trust me it's SO worth it. If you want to be an author, you have to read VORACIOUSLY. You also have to learn from published authors. My favorites are Brandon Sanderson's lectures on YT and Abbie Emmons, and the "Essential guide to writing a novel" podcast".
