Welcome to the Development Disabilities Awareness studio, created by @Smiles_Official in honors of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month [March 2024] :) • Table of Contents • ➜ What are Developmental Disabilities? ➜ Project Ideas ➜ Curator Info ➜ Manager Info ➜ Proposing the studio to be featured! ➜ Translation info ➜ Credits ➜ What are Developmental Disabilities? Developmental Disabilities are “a group of conditions due to an impairment in physical, learning, language, or behavior areas.” according to cdc.gov. Another word that means the same thing as a having a developmental disability is “neurodivergence”. Developmental disability is a more technical term. Some examples of developmental disabilities include: • ADHD • Autism • Cerebral paulsy • Down syndrome • Spina bifida • Hearing loss • and more People with developmental disabilities may require more “support” (your codeword) than some other people, but they are not more important, nor less important than people who do or don’t need help. ➜ Project Ideas Any projects added to the studio need to be related to the studio. If you’re having trouble thinking of some ideas, feel free to use this list! (I will use the abbreviation “DD” to shorten “developmental disabilities”) Ideas for projects *about* developmental disabilities: • A slideshow informing people about DD • A voiceover informing people about DD • A platformer, where as you go through, you learn more and more about DD Ideas for project to *help* people with developmental disabilities: • Digital “fidgets” • A text to speech software • A sound amplification tool • (be sure to tell us that these things were made *for* the studio :) ) You are not restricted to these things! They are just idea starters. ➜ Curator info Note: You do not have to have a developmental disability to be a curator! This studio is to support anyone with them, so anyone is welcome to join <3 To be a curator, please fill out this form: | Username | Activity level on a scale from 1-10 | Do you know anyone with a developmental disability? If so, what is your favorite thing about that person? | Will you follow the studio rules? | Codeword in a sentence (it is hidden carefully in the description ;) ) | If it is not completed or filled out correctly, it will be ignored. If you don’t receive a response in 24 hours, this is probably the reason why. Specific people will be invited. If you were invited but don’t feel the need or want to be in the studio, please politely ignore. Thank you! ➜ Manager info We will be accepting anywhere from 5-10 curators. This is what we are looking for in curators: • Kind • Helpful • Active • Respectful • Supportive Please do not ask to be manager, that will only decrease the chances of you becoming one. ➜ Proposing the studio to be featured! We would love to help spread the word and inform people about developmental disabilities. Feel free to help us out by proposing the studio to featured! Copy this link: Go to this forum: Create a new topic, and say why you think the studio should be featured, along with pasting that link you just copied :D Let us know if you proposed it, along with a link of proof! ➜ Translation info | English | You can find all translations in this studio: If you would like to help translate the studio so that all languages can read it, that would be absolutely amazing! Find more info here: ➜ Credits Studio host:
HOW TO BE A TRANSLATOR: 1. Ask if you can be a translator and let us know what language you would translate the studio into. 2. If approved, you can translate the studio. It must be translated authentically. This means no Google Translate, or any other translating site due to the fact that they are not very accurate. 3. The studio host asks that you get it done within a week. If you don't think you can get it done in time, but you really want to translate, contact @Smiles_Official, and we may be able to work something out. What do I do after I finish translating it? 1. Make sure that you have translated *everything* in the instructions part of this project. 2. Credit yourself for translation in the “credits”, along with crediting the studio host, @Smilies_Official. 3. Go into the project and change “English” to your language (preferably in your language). 4. Share the project and get it checked by @Smiles_Official. She will let you know if you need to change anything. 5. Once done, we will add the project to a studio full of translations! You will also be credited in the studio. FAQs: Q: Do I translate links and usernames? A: No, those do not need to be translated.
