(ill pretty this up later! and make it coherent ig.) nascentseraph has a series of things he represents. the biggest overall one is contradiction then into changeling then femininity and finally helplessness. to start explaining it, femininity to me is not traditional gender roles but rather how everyone else views a person and how they in turn frame themselves. a frequent experience afab and feminine people have is knowing what’s really going on in the world. he knows the horrors of it that others do not, or that they turn a blind eye too, and he’s stared it down. from birth, miragestar preferred jackalrite (like how some parents prefer sons to daughters) , he ends up forced to be the one in charge of his siblings because he literally took care his younger bio and adoptive siblings (oldest daughters are typically forced to be third parents). no matter his accomplishments, nasa was never really seen (when from women they are put down) , his reliance on others (women expected of needing saving). secondly, nascentseraph is VERY aggressive, which yknow is typically associated with masculinity. but he’s not a predator aggressive, think more cornered prey. he’s aggressive to protect himself and those he loves, and he tries to fight jackalrite when younger to prove himself CAPABLE. he’s not a predator hunting the weak, he’s a prey challenging the strong. when he became deputy and everyone doubted him because he was a medicine cat before. it gave female celebrities ‘i knew it’ and ‘i hated them from the start’ bandwagon. when he was made medicine cat he got mcguffined with being an important role but nobody cared how he felt bout it. he got tossed around like an object with no regard for how he felt bout it. which yknow where that happens? womens experiences. his relationships are next. his two most important relationships are oakencreed and nimbusstar. two women. feminine ppl tend to stick together bc they understand each other so well GIRLHOOD. next changeling. in european folklore, there’s a thing called ‘ the child that came back wrong ‘ . it’s essentially faes. faes are typically magical and resembling humans but not acting like them. there’s a lot of different ideas for origins in cultures but the main selling point is that they’re unable to be understood by humans. jackalrite is a fae. changelings are faes left in place of stolen humans. in the ‘stolen humans’ part you connect it to his trauma. beetlestar’s corpse. the medicine cat den. they live in wilderness, away from humanity. the medicine cat den was almost always vacant and devoid of life spare nascentseraph and he felt longing to go to other dens but felt he could not. he was ‘stolen’ in the sense of his role. when he came out of it, his ‘human’ traits were replaced with ‘fae’ ones in the way he behave so differently. changelings and faes arent just mythological creatures, theyre scapegoats. meant to be blamed for everything. that ties directly into what? FEMININITY. faes and changelings aren’t meant to be understood. nascentseraph is more simple than ppl realize but he makes no sense to everyone else but himself. he acts and does things cohesively, the way he’s supposed to act and what’s expected of him. but when you put it all together, he’s a bunch of contradictions. one. he claims to have no care for any of his biological family and believes his blood to be tainted, but jackal is the only one he truly has HORRIBLY negative feelings for. two. he’s incredibly loyal however that typically positive thing leads to horrible things like him accepting his medicine cat position thrust upon him by his dad.
