At different points of the night I’m hanging out with different people. At first I hang with Jax. Then Ashley. Now I’m in the kitchen grabbing a Coke. Jax walks in and smiles at me. I smile at him as I take a sip from the can. He walks over and puts his arms around me from behind me. “I wish I would’ve given us an hour or more alone.” He whispers in my ear. “There’s always after.” I reply in a whisper. He comes up in front of me with a mischievous smirk. I laugh as he pulls me towards the living room where most everyone is dancing to 22 by Taylor Swift. “Who’s Taylor Swift anyway?” I ask jokingly. He twirls me around then catches me up close to him. We stare at each other as the song fades. Then, breaking the spell, he leans down and kisses me. A loud “Ay!” raises up from the crowd but we ignore it. The loud chatter around the room seems to disappear. As he pulls away I feel someone grab my arms. The person turns me around. I stare into Mark’s face. I immediately try to take a step back. He holds me in his strong arms. “Can I have a turn?” He asks in a low voice. I struggle from him and step back against Jax who’s giving Mark the death glare. Jax puts his arm around me. “Leave her alone, dude.” He says. Mark stands there for a second, then walks away. I hear …Ready for it? by Taylor Swift playing. I smirk up at Jax. “What’s this Mr. ‘I don’t even like Taylor Swift’?” I ask playfully. He pulls me close. “Shut up and dance with me.” He says in a low tone, quoting the song by Walk the Moon. I laugh happily. We dance around the room for a few minutes, then The Way You Move by Cash and Maverick starts playing. I laugh. “Our theme song!” He exclaims, grinning. “Baby, how you do it? Girl, you lookin’ so fine.” He sings along with the song. “You always on my mind, I’m tryna think how I can handle ya.” I sing. “Ooh, you gotta start to make me go crazy. Always by my side so everybody else hate me!” He sings, laughing. Now everyone’s singing. The song ends and everyone kinda laughs. I see Conner and Ashley on the couch, his arm around her. She looks tired. They get up and walk towards us. “Hey, dude. I’m taking her home. Thanks for the party.” Conner says to Jax. Ashley smiles. “It was a ton of fun.” She adds. “Yeah, no prob. See ya at school tomorrow.” He says. They walk out the door. Soon everyone is gone. Me and Jax collapse on the couch. I sigh. “What time is it?” I ask. He looks at his watch. “12:27.” He answers. I snuggle up close to him as he puts his arm around me. I yawn. Too late do I realize we’re both falling asleep. My eyes drift open. Light is streaming through the blinds. I shoot up. Jax immediately sits up. “What?” He asks sleepily. “We fell asleep!” I exclaim, slugging him. His eyes widen. I quickly get up. I walk to his room where my phone is sitting. I have twenty-five messages from Mom and Dad. I grimace. I quickly type a message. *Hi. I’m so sorry. It’s was 12:30 so we sat down and uh… we accidentally fell asleep. I’ll be home soon.* I send it. Jax comes up behind me and rubs my arms. “They can’t blame you. You didn’t mean to.” He says quietly. I sigh. “It’s already like 11:00.” I say. *We were worried sick, Quinn. Not ok. Please come straight home.* Dad replies. *Got it.* I answer. I walk into school on Monday morning. Saturday when I’d gotten home Mom and Dad had made me sit down and gave me a lecture all about how they’re trying to trust me but it’s hard when I run off like that. They had almost called the police but had decided against it. I go straight to my locker. I start grabbing my books for science. Jax walks up a few minutes later. “Hey.” He says, leaning his arm against my locker. I smile up at him. “I’m surprised your parents didn’t ground you.” He says thoughtfully. I shrug, closing my locker and shouldering my bag. “I guess they figured that it really wasn’t my fault.” I say. Suddenly my eyes drift to the front door where I see a guy that I don’t recognize walking in. He has dark hair and bright blue eyes. -------------------------More Below!--------------------------
He’s really cute honestly. Oops. He looks around our age. I gesture at him. “Do you know him?” I ask Jax. He follows my gaze. “No. Must be new. Why?” He asks. I shrug. “Just wondering.” I reply. He stares at me, then shrugs. The warning bell rings. We both go to our separate classes. I barge into the classroom about twelve seconds after the bell rings. Mrs. Maple glances at me and continues talking. I see the new guy in the seat beside me, Ashley on the other side of me. I sigh. What’s with Mrs. Maple putting the new kids beside me? I slide into my seat and lean over to Ashley. “What’s his name?” I ask her in a whisper. She stifles a laugh. “Lucas Walker. You would’ve known that if you weren’t late.” She whispers. “Quinn, Ashley, please stop talking. And while I’m at it, Quinn, don’t be late again.” Mrs. Maple calls. I blush and slouch back in my seat. I see Lucas smiling over at me. I smile shyly back. Wait, what? Shy? I’m one of the most popular girls in school. I don’t get SHY… Soon the class is over. I get my books together and shoulder my backpack. I’m about to walk out when Lucas stops me. “Hey, do you know where…” He looks down at a piece of paper. “Room 23 is?” He asks, looking back down at me with a smile. “Yeah, that’s where I’m headed. C’mon, I’ll show ya.” I lead the way out of the classroom and down multiple halls. Soon we come up to the door. “History?” I ask him. He nods. “Cool.” I say, opening the door. We’re met with loud yelling. A bunch of the jocks in the last row are wadding up papers and throwing them around the room. I roll my eyes and walk to my seat right in front of them. I glare at them. They stop for a second and look at me. I raise my eyebrows. Conner, sitting at the end of the row, grins. I sit down as they continue to throw them around the room. Lucas comes and sits beside me. “So, does this history class completely suck?” He asks. I nod. “Yeah, basically. Most of the jocks are in here, so it’s pretty crazy.” I say, glancing back. One of them, Jacob, who’s sitting directly behind me, throws a piece of paper at my face. I duck and just slightly dodge it. I glare at him and pick it up, throwing it at him hard. He catches it and smirks. “I saw ya at the party last night.” He says, wiggling his eyebrows. I scoff and turn around. “So, are you and Jax like a thing now?” He asks directly in my ear. I turn around and slug him. “Where you been livin’?! Under a rock?!” I exclaim. He raises his eyebrows and leans back. “So, that’s a yes?” He asks. I throw up my hands, turning to look at the front. “You’re idiotic!” I mumble. He laughs. I roll my eyes towards Lucas. He stifles a laugh. Then I turn back around and smirk at Jacob. “Why do you care? Do ya like me or something?” I ask. He blushes as the others exclaim. “No.” He says, suddenly not so confident. I giggle and turn around just as the teacher walks in. At lunch a couple of hours later, I smirk at Jacob as I walk up to the table. He sticks his tongue out at me. I sit down across from him, looking around. “Is Jax here yet?” I ask. “Why do you care? Do you like him or something?” Jacob asks, mimicking me. I shake with laughter. “Yes!” I reply. He rolls his eyes. “Apparently social studies is going late or something.” He mumbles. I smirk again. Jax walks over a few minutes later and drops his backpack beside mine, sliding onto the bench beside me. “I hate when social studies goes late. It sucks.” He huffs. “Agreed.” I say, nodding. Ashley and Conner walk up soon. “Hi.” I say, tapping the seat beside me. Ashley sits down, Conner beside her. “I invited that new guy to come sit with us. He’s trying out for the football team today.” Jax says. I nod. We go and grab our lunch and when we get back Lucas is sitting at the table talking to Conner. I blush slightly and turn so Jax doesn’t see. Oh boy. This is gonna be tough. Chapter 4 is out! Hope you enjoy it!!! next: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1004641427
