"No, no, no, absolutely not," Maggie snapped as they walked to History of Magic. "But why?" Moonshine whined. "I'm not getting into anything bad, especially not with Fred Weasley," "Please Maggie, we can't do this alone!" "And how do I know this is true!" "It is! I saw it with my own eyes! Please Maggie, one night. And if we get in trouble, I'll understand if you don't want to be friends anymore. I'll blame it on myself, Maggie..." "Fine," "Please!" Moonshine begged. "Wait. You said fine?" Maggie nodded and rolled her eyes. Moonshine hugged her around the shoulders. "You won't regret it!" Fred and Moonshine didn't share a look all the way through History of Magic, both were too nervous. Halfway through the lesson, Fred nudged Moonshine. "Ask Alexandra," he whispered. "Ask Alexandra what?" Moonshine asked, pushing her glasses up her nose. "If she wants to come with us," Fred raised his eyebrows. "She's really smart, I think she could help." Muttering just beneath Professor Binns' rambling, Moonshine turned to Alex and said, "Alex, can I talk to you?" Alexandra placed her pen on top of her page of notes and nodded. Moonshine told her everything that had happened during her and Fred's detention. "We were wondering if you wanted to go down the tunnel with us." Moonshine said. "We know you're, like, really smart, so..." "Ok," Alex nodded her head. "Great," Moonshine smiled. "Meet us in the trophy room at ten tonight." Moonshine and Maggie waited in the Common Room for everyone else to make their way up to their dorms. It took a surprisingly long time, and by the time everyone had gone, it was 11:50. Moonshine led Maggie towards the trophy room. They got there bang on ten o'clock. Alex was already there waiting for them. They waited for Fred and George for ten minutes. "Maybe they chickened out," Maggie muttered, but Moonshine shook her head. "Fred wouldn't," she insisted. Finally, the twins arrived. "Sorry we're late," George puffed. They both looked like they'd ran all the way there. "Lee would not go upstairs." "It's fine," Moonshine said, and showed the other four over to the cabinet she had found the dial in. Slowly, she opened the door, and reached onto the top shelf, feeling for the tiny trophy. She found it, and removed it. Then she spotted the dial. In the dark, it was almost invisible. Almost. She could just make out the raindrop in the centre. She turned the knob, and the shelf slid to the side, silently and flawlessly, as if on butter. It revealed the dark hole in the wall. "Told you," Fred whispered, nudging George in the ribs. "Yeah, yeah," George shoved a five pound note into Fred's open hand. Maggie shook her head. "You bet on it?" "Of course!" "Guys!" Alex snapped. "The quicker we get in, the quicker we get out. The quicker, the better." "That's right," Moonshine said. "Come on." She stepped into the tunnel, and suddenly Maggie was beside her, clutching her elbow. It assured her to know her best friend was right by her side. Alex appeared on the other side of her, and Moonshine was suddenly aware of just how wide the tunnel really was. Fred and George brought up the rear, and Moonshine could here them quietly muttering to each other, and a few giggles. Moonshine glanced at Maggie. Even in the darkness, Moonshine could see her pained face. She knew Maggie wished she had with Flick what Fred and George had with each other. Moonshine produced her wand from her robe pocket. "Lumos," she muttered, and the tip of her wand lit up, casting a faint glow down the tunnel. It wasn't much, but it helped her to see slightly. She could see no end to the tunnel, but she spotted some steps at the end of her vision, going downwards. Maggie and Alex also lit up their own wands. They descended the steps, only to come to yet another dank stone corridor. Maggie and Moonshine exchanged glances. "Are you sure we should be doing this?" Maggie whispered. "What if something really bad is at the end of the corridor?" "Then we'll leave," Moonshine said simply. "We'll glance inside, and if it looks dangerous, we'll leave before they even know we're there." More steps took them deeper underground beneath the Hogwarts castle. At the end of this new tunnel, there was a door. "Look," Fred said. "Ugh, finally," George said. The five of them walked up to the door at the end of the corridor. There was a circle in the centre, with a raindrop carved into the middle.
(cont) He leant further and further, and Moonshine knew exactly what was about to happen. She tried to catch the sleeve of his robe, but it was too late. He had already fallen through the door, and out into a large room. The other four stumbled in behind him, wands out in front of them. "What are you doing here?" Thanks to @Alexandra_Riddle for the character of Alex!
