Battle. Wherewithal. Endurance. Pride. Honor. These are the traits I strive to show every day. Now that… “it” has happened. I must get out there and do what I must in hopes to put this to bed. I must better myself and become a great warrior so I may defend the honor of my village and my own honor. I must prove all my training has been worth it. Now is my time to shine. Don’t bother wishing me luck, I don’t need it. Chapter 1: Push Comes to Shove My name is Aritho Brockith. I am 17 years old, and have been training to be a warrior for the past 4 years. There have always been conflicts due to bandits, overbearing kingdoms, and power-hungry warlords, but there has never been anything that threatens the entirety of the world. That changed one week ago. I was tending to my parents’ corn field when the sky was turned a murky dark gray with red lighting crashing down to the scarce, autumn ground. I whipped my head around and saw a figure cloaked in crimson red descending onto the ground with a crooked grin on his face. I felt something in the air that told me that life around here was going to change. Soon. He hit the ground, and slowly walked through the village, no one making a move, hiding inside of their homes. He walked into the center of town and right up to the mayor’s desk and told him, “Submit. To me and my forces. Submit and serve me and you won’t be eradicated.” He handed the mayor a flag. “Plant this outside of your village in a visible location. You have 1 month. If my army and I do not see it, we shall lay siege to your village, and will not spare anyone. Woman, child, anyone.” The mayor was shaking violently and sweating profusely, but he nodded quietly. The figure turned around slowly and calmly left the hall, floated up into the sky, and disappeared. The sky was clear again, and the town descended into a panic. I knew, as a man of honor, I had no choice but to go out, leave my village and strengthen myself enough to challenge this cloaked figure and his army in 1 months’ time. So, I marched out the front gate, rusty sword and makeshift stone and wood shield, in my possession, and set out on the journey of a lifetime.
