Her bones creaked as she forced herself upwards, her muscles barely supporting her weight. Jaywhistle slowly stood up and sauntered to the den entrance, her body slow and battered through time. Her thick and luscious fur was now thin, and bald spots littered her pelt. Her eyes, once sparkled full of vigor and laughter, were now dull and gray. She slowly looked to the sky, resting on her haunches right in front of the den entrance, closing her eyes as she took in the sun. Her nostrils flared as she sniffed the cold air, her tail swishing back and forth in the pleasant weather of the afternoon. The day was just a normal day, but Jaywhistle's fur pricked and she sensed something more was to come. "We had a good run," she whispered to herself, trying her best to stay positive even in her last hour. The frail elder sighed and took a deep breath of fresh air, filling her lungs with calming oxygen. she thought of her mothers, somewhere looking down on her, she hoped, up in StarClan. She thought of her brothers, long gone, but it felt as if she had only talked to them yesterday. She missed them all so dearly. She thought of her mentor, Agaricfrost, who taught Jaywhistle all she knew about being a warrior. Sea-snakeshiver, who she considered as a friend. She thought of her adopted son, Canyoncrumble. Wherever he was, she hoped he was staying safe and having the time of his life. Jaywhistle closed her eyes. All these wonderful gracious people in her life; she hoped she was gracious and wonderful enough to them in return. Her whole life, it seemed, was playing her head. "They always did say before you die, your whole life flashes before your eyes," she said to no one in particular, not that anyone was around to hear. As soon as her "life movie" caught up to the present, she felt an overwhelming sense of peace descend upon her. /What a great life. I didn't do anything super super major, like become the leader; but I was kind and caring, and a reliable friend. Sharing my kindness with the world was enough though. Boy I really lucked out with my family, I can't wait to see them all again. Wait, does StarClan have a bathroom? Gosh why am I thinking this?/ Jaywhistle's inner monologue began to ramble, but she stopped herself before it got too out of hand. With one last look at her Clan, the palm trees, the oasis, and the sun she slowly turned back to face the elder's den. "Goodbye!" Jaywhistle purred, a little sadly, and she slowly walked back to her comfortable mossy nest; her ears twitching and her tail swaying each time her delicate paws made contact with the sand. She slowly settled down into her nest, purring as her tentative whiskers twitched. She couldn't wait to see her family in StarClan. "Here I come," she whispered as she closed her eyes. Her chest slowly took one last breath, and then she passed away peacefully in her sleep. Jaywhistle rose from her sleeping dead body and smiled. "Mamas! Brothers! Here I come!" ─◌✰್ ⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ ⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ ⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ ⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ ⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ ⋆.ೃ࿔*: ⋆ ⊱┊
