I have completely revised bug Mango's story. I've even changed their name to Papaya Ok, so... Papaya was born into a family of thieves. Their mother and father were definitely not fit to be parents. They were always absent a lot, they didn't have many rules in place, they drank a lot of berry juice, and they actively encouraged their children to be thieves. Once their children were "old enough to care for themselves", they left. Papaya and their younger brother Pomegranate were kept under the care of their older sister, Durian. Durian's only way of obtaining necessities was through thievery, and Papaya didn't agree with this. After enough fighting, Papaya was kicked out of the family. Now alone, Papaya typically stayed around the outskirts of Bugaria. Their entire species was poisoned with stereotypes, so nearly nowhere would accept them. Eventually, they did find a kind old bug who legitimately cared for them, and even knitted their hood (yep, that's a hood). Though, because she was old, she passed away shortly after. Alone again, they tried to find a job. They tried working at the pier, but got scared of the water, they tried working in the speak-easy in the Ant Kingdom (somehow), but they were suspected of giving away the location to an authority. They tried a bunch of other places, but nothing worked out. They tried to get themself accepted into a kingdom, no luck. However, they learned about exploring. So, they decided to find a dangerous place to explore in order to "prove themself." Of course, they had to choose Snakemouth Den. By the time they had fallen into lower Snakemouth, they were terrified. Luckily, a bug found them lying there. This bug was specifically a wax-tailed hopper, a rather rare species in Bugaria. They remained unnamed around Papaya, and eventually agreed in assisting them in escaping. Once they did, the two of them became unlikely friends, considering Papaya's timidness and lack of holding back on their emotions, and the bug's stiffness in emotion and adventurous spirit. After they had started to explore together and even attempt to find a home, Papaya named them, specifically the name "Syd". (I will provide a ref for them in the future, maybe) This grew their bond even closer. Eventually, they found their way into the far grasslands, and decided to make a little camp in a more hidden and safe spot of the grasslands, eventually making it into their own little den, and are best of friends, trying their best to make a living and get through the struggles of their own wildly different pasts.
