After lunch, Calvin asked us to meet him in the lounge. “Where is the lounge?” Elly asked. Willow walked over to the door that went to the room with the traps. “I wonder if it’s in here.” “No!” Mason and I yelled at the same time. We looked at each other, then started cracking up. She looked at us concerned. “Why?” Once I stopped laughing, I looked around and found a rock. I walked over and opened the door. “What?” Willow asked. “It’s just a big empty room.” I threw a rock in, and instead of arrows shooting out of the wall like I had expected, fire came out of the floor. “Okay.” Willow said. “Definitely not this room.” She turned to me and Mason. “How did you know what this room was?” “Oh, when I was going to talk to Calvin, I walked into this room, and Mason saved me from…you know.” “Well, then how did you know about this room?” She pointed at Mason. He shrugged. “I was exploring.” “And almost died on the way.” Elly said. “I like you.” “Thanks.” “Here’s the lounge.” I said opening the door. We found Calvin sitting on a chair in front of a table. “What’s this about, Vin?” Elly asked. “Well,” He unrolled the scroll from before. “I was thinking, maybe we should figure out what James and Mason’s powers are. Don't you think?” Mason shrugged. “Why not?” “I’m in.” James said, smiling. “Good, now who wants to go first?” “I’ll give it a go.” James said. I heard him say under his breath as he walked over to the table, “This…is…so cool!” He sat down. “What do I do?” “Just read this.” He gave him the scroll. I looked over his shoulder and saw what it said. “One of earth will be pure of heart. One of wind will never cease to cease to see in the dark. One of fire will enhance our sight, and one of the water will help bring back the light.” Suddenly, he disappeared. “What the-” I looked around. “Where did he go?” “What do you mean?” I jumped. “Who said that?” “What do you mean who said that?” I looked around. “I think he just discovered his U.P.” “What are you guys talking about?” “Go look in a mirror.” Willow said, putting her hands on a chair before sitting on it. I think she was worried she might sit on him. “What?” I felt something glide across me. We waited for a minute, then we heard a scream. “What? How?” We all ran in. “I’m invisible?” “James, it's okay.” Calvin said. “How is this…” He paused. I think he was pointing to himself. “Okay?” “Just take a few breaths.” I said. “How do I go back to normal?” “What do you think of when you can see something?” “I don’t…” He paused. Suddenly the bar of soap that was on the counter started floating. “I think of atoms.” “Then think of that.” “Okay.” He said. “Easy enough.” We all waited in silence, while waiting for something to happen. “Yes!” I jumped. He was behind me. “How did you-” “I figured it out a minute ago, I just wanted to scare you guys.” I rolled my eyes. “Real mature.” Elly said, then she fist bumped him. “Now, what’s your signature?” Calvin asked. “What?” “Normally, when an element uses its powers, something glows.” “Mine’s my hair.” I said, grabbing a strand of my hair. “That’s why it’s blue. I thought it was some sort of prank Elly pulled on you, or something.” “Hey!” Elly said, defensively, although she was laughing. He shrugged. “Okay, what’s my signature?” He thought for a minute. “Oh, yeah.” He reached into his pocket, and pulled out a little coin. It was glowing. “That is so cool.” Willow said. “Don’t lose it.” Calvin said. “Why?” “If you lost it, and a flat found it, what do you think would happen?” “Yeah…That's a good point.” “Okay, you’ve got to give me a go.” Mason said. Calvin laughed. “Of course.” We went back to the room and Mason read the scroll. When I expected fire popping out of his ears, something even more unexpected happened. “Nothing?” I asked. “That is strange- oh my.” Calvin said. He put his hand to his mouth. I looked back and saw there was a computer there I hadn’t noticed before. It was glitching like crazy. “What the-” “What?” He looked at his hands. “Is smoke shooting out of my nose?” We all shook our heads, too shocked to speak. He looked confused. He turned around and looked at the computer we were all looking at. “Whoa. Am I…” We all nodded. “That’s pretty cool.” “Pretty cool?” I asked. “You can control electronics, that’s amazing!” “Thanks.” He said. “You’re welcome!” “Well, what's your signature?” Willow asked. “Come on, the suspense is too much.” “Well…uh…” He looked himself over, then his face went pale. He pulled on something on his neck, and pulled a locket out from his shirt. It was glowing red. “What’s that?” I asked. “Uh…” He stuffed it back into his shirt. “Nothing.” I looked at him suspiciously. “Okay.” I looked over at Calvin. “So, I’ve been meaning to ask, when are we going home?” He looked down at the ground and bit his lip again. I’d seen him do that enough to know something was wrong. “We are going home, right?” “Well-” “Yes-” Willow said before he could finish. “Yes, yes we are.” He bit his lip harder.
“Are you kidding me?” I asked. “Why can’t we? “Because, you’re the guardians.” “We are kids!” “You were chosen!” “For what?” “You know what!” “So?” I asked. “We want to go home.” “And what would happen if you went home?” he threw his hands in the air. “Look what they did to you when you were alone on an island. Imagine what he would do to your family if you went home and they protected you?” I looked down at the ground. Willow started crying and fell to her knees. I knelt down next to her and comforted her. “I-I’m sorry.” He said. “I’m just trying to do what’s best for you, and your family.” “We know.” Mason said. He was also crying. “That doesn’t make it any less painful.” “I know.” Calvin said. “Will we ever be able to go back home?” “Not unless…” “Unless what?” I asked. “Unless you defeat Harold, once and for all.” “We can’t.” He sat there, then he looked like he had an idea. “Follow me.” ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guuuuuyyyyyyys, what do you think of the new cover? Not to brag but, *Flips hair* I drew it myself. I love writing about James. I crack up almost every time he says something. Guys, just now, I hate writing the sad parts just as much as you hate reading them. Actually, that's a lie. It's kind of fun to write depressing things. If anyone who reads this watches studio c, try to guess this quote. For them I've invented all kinds of sports. Each depressing it's own way BTW he was skipping when he said this That's how I feel when I writing sad parts in this book XD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sneak Peak Look, the only reason I'm telling you this, is because evil isn't born, it's made.
