⚘ MEMORYMERIT'S TRAINING GUIDE ⚘ As some of y'all know, my gal's become a warrior - and she's received two apprentices to boot! Galepaw and Spraypaw will be graced with the gift of hearing her chatter all day and night long! XD On a more serious note, Memorymerit's mentoring style will differ from many, seeing as she's just become a warrior herself. This project is put together for the sake of keeping track of the intended progress Emy and her minions - I mean apprentices - will make over the moons. Down to business! ⚘ Methods ⚘ Memorymerit is a highly impulsive, confident, and sometimes arrogant feline, and these traits will reflect in her mentoring style. She is a strong believer in the importance of justice and will not hesitate to dish out punishments when necessary - she will demand her apprentices' full efforts, no matter how small that may be. For the most part, however, she is an engaging and idiosyncratic teacher who adds a little twist to each lesson. A battle training session becomes not only a dull run-through of attack moves - it becomes a grand, orchestrated war in which Galepaw and Spraypaw are leaders of opposing Clans. A hunting expedition becomes a competition. A border patrol becomes an exercise of focus. And tick duties are ... tick duties. Memorymerit suffered through tick duties as an apprentice; why shouldn't her apprentices endure the same? Most of the time she takes Galepaw and Spraypaw out for group training sessions. Perhaps she could occasionally arrange joint lessons with the other mentors. When it comes to a topic she is not familiar with, such as first aid and herb knowledge, she might turn to one of the Clan's medicine cats. On the whole, she expects her apprentices to do their best, have fun, and respect both her and each other. Some of her flaws in training lie in her eagerness for combat - if, for example, the apprentices get into a squabbling argument, she might encourage them to fight one another instead of settling it altogether. Her lack of tact does not aid her, either: with a tendency to be blunt, she may overcriticize and unintentionally hurt her apprentices' feelings. ⚘ MOON 1 ⚘ Memorymerit will begin by showing her apprentices around the territory and teaching them to navigate the dunes. She will teach them where to find water, all the different landmarks, and the borders. She will also have them learn the warrior code and the basics of StarClan/the Dark Forest, seeing as she is a highly devoted follower of her starry ancestors. Apprentice duties are introduced early on, and from the start she will use these as punishments if anything goes out of hand. She may also throw in some hunting and fighting moves, just because she is such an impatient gal and cannot wait to teach them more. XD ⚘ MOON 2 ⚘ Galepaw and Spraypaw will learn more hunting and fighting moves, and by this time are expected to know the code by heart. During this moon, they will be introduced to navigating in the dark. Being a blind warrior, Memorymerit is well-accustomed to darkness, and knows that they will not always be traversing the territory in broad daylight. ⚘ MOON 3 ⚘ This moon will mainly be about practical skills. They will learn to swim (this was delayed merely because Memorymerit forgot to include this in prior lessons), to identify poisonous plants and herbs, to escape and evade predators, and to patrol the border. Fighting in pairs will be introduced to them, as well as fending off multiple opponents. ⚘ MOON 4 ⚘ By this time, they must be hunting and fighting reliably. Memorymerit will transition to teaching them other practical skills, such as herb knowledge and tree climbing. She may test their prior skills by putting them through a series of challenges designed to evaluate their reflexes, dexterity, and ability to handle themselves in quickly moving situations. ⚘ MOON 5 ⚘ Here, they will learn how to conduct themselves at Gatherings, to diffuse tension at a border meetup, to speak eloquently, and to argue masterfully. Memorymerit will pass down quite a few of her morals, including those about the importance of honesty, pride and honor, etc. She will continue running tests for them to ensure they do not lag behind in their training. They will also progress to hunting prey and fighting opponents in difficult terrain and volatile weather, and the like. ⚘ MOON 6 ⚘ At this point, they must have learned all the skills needed to survive on their own, and will be expected to behave, not as hapless apprentices, but as trained warriors. Memorymerit will loosen her grip on them somewhat and allow them more freedom, though she will expect them to regularly go patrolling/hunting, as any warrior would do. Much of this moon will be spent bonding and developing closer connections with the other apprentice and with the mentor. She will also prep them for their assessments. ⚘ MOON 7 ⚘ The dreaded moon - that of the assessments. Memorymerit ++
++ will cover everything she has taught her apprentices, from territory navigation to advanced fighting moves. ⚘ Assessment ⚘ Her assessment will go like this: She will hold a battle with each of her apprentices that goes somewhat like this: for the first round, Memorymerit teams up with Galepaw, and both of them begin a mock fight with Spraypaw. Spraypaw is expected to hold her own in this situation. The second round, it will be Memorymerit and Spraypaw against Galepaw; and the third, Memorymerit will face the two apprentices on her own, to see how well they fight in pairs. If the apprentices successfully pass all three rounds, she will deem them warrior-level in their fighting skills. As for the hunting, she will allow them out of camp at sunup and tell them to return in an hour with at least six pieces of prey: three fish, and three mammals. At last, for the final part of her assessment, she will blindfold them (with palm leaves or something of the sort), bring them to an obscure part of the territory, and tell them to find their way back on their own, all the while expecting an ambush from their mentor along the way. ⚘ Ceremony ⚘ Before her apprentices' warrior ceremony, she will prepare gifts for them, tailored to their personalities. Still deciding what sort of gifts ehehe - y'all can expect either something silly or something so wonderfully poignant XD ⚘ Afterwards ⚘ After her apprentices pass their ceremony, I'm planning on Memorymerit throwing a party of sorts - a celebration with her friends and family and, of course, Gale and Spray! Perhaps she could send her (now former) apprentices out on a last hunting expedition by her order, and when they come back, they could set up a "banquet". Emory will feel highly accomplished by having trained her apprentices, and from then on will likely have a heightened sense of confidence, which may or may not be a bad thing :eyes: ⚘ Conclusion ⚘ Thank you for reading my long-winded ramble, haha - both Memorymerit and I are excited to embark on this training venture. Hopefully that didn't make your eyes sore, or what would the point of writing this monstrosity of a training guide be? XD Anyway, that concludes everything - Yanna, out! <3
