Males have dark-colored chests and bellies in addition to teal-green throats and iridescent purple crowns. Females are less brightly colored, and are commonly a sandy-brown with slight variations. There only used to be one type of magnificent hummingbird. But in 2017, they were split into two kinds; the Rivoli’s hummingbird, and the Talamanca hummingbird, based on where they live and what color their throats are. Fun Fact: Rivoli’s hummingbirds have some of the fastest heartbeats out of all hummingbirds.
