the missing snitch ⭑ SRC '24 weekly for fablepuff :3 Summary One (Cinderella is Dead): For this, I read Cinderella is Dead. It's set in the city of Lille, where Cinderella is practically a godess, the story of Cinderella a form of a religious object. When every girl in Lille turns 16, they go to the ball where they are "chosen" by a man. These girls are able to go to the ball up to three times: any more than that, and they are considered forfit. But Sophia doesn't believe in all of this, and doesn't blindly follow like everyone else. She escapes the ball after standing up for herself and meets a girl named Constance. Together, they will figure out how to change Lille against all odds. Summary Two (I Am Malala): I read all about Malala Yousafzai for this task. The book starts with her recounting her life in Pakistan and how she got sh0t for going to school. She talks about her activism and work to make sure that other girls (and kids in general) in Pakistan are able to go to school. She also talks about how it has been hard to adjust to living in England and how when all of her family has only ever lived in Pakistan, how hard it is to adjust. Summary Three (Started Song of Achilles): It is narrated by Patroclus, who the a son of a king and a lady that was thought of as "simple." He is taken (at the age of 9) to be a suitor, but fails. When he is there, though, one of the soldiers gives him some dice. Later, a boy wants these dice and is pestering Patroclus and insulting him. Patroclus accidently shoves him onto the rocks, k!lling him. Summary Four (Finished Song of Achilles): I finished reading Song of Achilles! My heart is in tatters. Patroclus and Achilles are all grown up now. They went to study with Chiron for a while. (Well, Achilles's mother took him and Patroclus followed) But then, the war started. Because Achilles is a demigod, many people want him to fight. There is a prophecy, though, that he will die. So his mother hides him as a woman on an island. There, Patroclus finds him and the both of them are forced into the war. The war lasts a long time, and I'm not going to go over all of the details. But close to the end of the war, Patroclus dies. Achilles is distraught and avenges Patroclus. Summary Five (N/A) Summary Six (Call Me by Your Name): I started Call Me by Your Name. It honestly isn't my favorite but it's an interesting concept! Elio lives in Italy in the late 80s, where each summer his family houses a guest. This summer, the guest happens to be an American young man named Oliver. Elio pretty much falls for Oliver, pinning after him. Both love to read and are able to bond over that, but there are moments when Elio believes that Oliver hates him: little looks and ignoring him even though that is the exact opposite of what Oliver feels. I'm not done with the book quite yet though so no ending ;)
